Hey every, I have a 2001 Z06. I just took of the intake the other day because i wanted to take a look at it, after doing so i saw it only had a 1-2 inch hole for the air......Is this why mine only has 385 and not 405 because of the air restriction??
What is a good intake?? I kinda want the type of pipe they have on the supercharged Cars......Any pics??
Does any one know were i can get a pipe like that??
Also, is it better to take of that screen on the MAF?? Is there any thing i should know if i take it off or how to do so??

I'd at least do the zip tie mod, or an aftermarket air intake. Those openings on the 01's are restrictive. You may also "descreen" the maf. Do a search for the "how to" if needed. You'll feel a difference once you open up the breathing.
I have a '02 Z06 intake if you want one, as they do have a larger hole. GM decided that the intake and MAF screen were restrictive in getting the additional HP of the '02 and that is why they are changed. The MAF is only really needed if you have 90° bends and need to straighten the air out, like the trucks. the only reason some cars have them is to keep the part numbers down. The '02 MAF is the same as the '01 except the screen. Take it out if you like, your computer will be able to handle any small changes in air flow. Many thousands of f-Body guys have done this with no ill effects, pretty much standard fair for adding HP and modding ones engine. Then again you could leave it in for now and wait until you do some major bolt ons that will require a re-tune anyway as you won't see much gain in the screen removal by itself, as the restriction comes in to effect once you start adding HP. We always remove screens for before the MAf style dry shots of nitrous and I have also never seen an issue.

I just took off the intake box and stuck a cone on it......And i took of the screen on tha maf......It is A LOT better. Faster!
Our tunes can compensate easily for minor airflow changes via the fuel trims. Each fuel trim can go +/- 20/25% on fueling to correct a lean condition caused by the additional airflow created by removing the airbox and screen. Now with that said, it is best to get re-tuned and keep the fuel trims in the 5% area for best overall performance.
