I haven't had the opportunity, or pleasure, of speaking to Dr. Phil (yet) as I am not quite ready. But when I am, I will do what ever it takes to get his attention. As long as it is legal.
I since a little generation gap maybe??

I will be the first one to come in and stand up for Phil.. Yes he can be a pain to get ahold of, yes he doesnt always seem to get messages. I have had many customers call me back and bitch me out because they cant get him on the phone.. What do I tell them... the same thing over and over... he is worth the wait.. I have been dealing with Phil for a long time and he is one of the best out there and has tought us quite a lot over the years and he has our utmost respect.
What I have found is that he responds very well to food and money combined.. I once had to put a $100 in the bottom of a donut box and he called me right back..
Okay, I don't own a Vette but thought my story was worth telling.
I have a 2000 SS, I was lucky enough to get Phil to do the tune on my car last year. At the time I had just bought the car and swapped on a new ported Fast 92mm intake and 92mm PTM throttle body. The tune was perfect, car drove like a dream, power on demand and great idle quality. That isn't why I felt compelled to post this message.
I drive my car with hand controls due to an accident when I was 17. The controls work pretty much like a motorcycles gas controls, twist the handle to give it gas. There is a cable that goes under the dash and clamps onto the throttle cable. When you twist the handle it pulls the cable giving it gas, nice setup. A friend of mine had done the install of the intake and throttle body. I was telling him about how the twist handle on my controls go slack. The clamp that connects the hand control cable to the throttle cable under the dash can't hold totally tight when racing, going WOT. It ends up where the controls lose the ability to get full throttle. Anyway, my friend decided to make a custom clamp to ensure the cable stays tight and I can always get full throttle. Great design and was working well. Sent the car to Phil's for my tune. Being the engineer and gear head he is he looked at the design of the new custom clamp. He took the time and effort to play around with it and make it even better. He didn't have to do that but wanted to make sure the setup would always give me the best possible performance. When I came to pick the car up, he took additional time to have me in the drivers seat and worked to adjust the controls. He played with them until they were perfect.
He may be hard to get in touch with but his attention to detail is second to none. Oh yea, if you get beat by a Camaro SS with plates that read PWRTRIP, you can thank Phil.

Dr.Phil built my car last year and I'm very happy with his work. I had my car trailored to Michigan 5hrs one way to have him do a motor, supercharger and RPM tranny install (among many other things) on my car. While my car was there, he gave me daily updates on the progress and never once had me buy anything I didn't need. He's very honest and professional. He is a character though...his responses are lots of times humerous, and not to mention his $1,000,000 price quotes
phil drove down from Michigan and tuned my car at RPM as part of the automatic install. fixed a ton of stuff on the TTiX setup, tuned it to perfection and the "dr's" fee was beyond reasonable
phil knows what he's doing and will make all the difference in the world getting the most from the "hardware"
he REALLY knows how to setup a tune for FI and is well worth both the wait and the very reasonable price of admission
hmmm... well i guess im the unlucky one lol
finally got a response but i guess not the one i was hoping for......lol
NOT quite sure what he meant by that response but oook..

I can tell you what he meant.
He feels that that the issues your having are not only tune related. He's saving your $ by stating that you need to get your other "ducks-in-a-row" before he'll work on your car.
I haven't read the issues related to your car as the links to the threads didnt work, however, I would bring your car to reputable forum shop to diagnose the mechanical issues before attempting to tune.
Good luck!

Ha ha, he's the Boost ****. Say the wrong thing, and it's,
"No boost for you today."
I can relate to where he's coming from though. I've worked for other companies, had my own employees, and now I have a small one-man operation with about a 2-3 year wait. Quality of life issues. Don't want the hassles any more, do mostly what I want to do, and I can choose who I want to deal with.
So choose a strategy... the $100 in with some donuts, or whatever. I never had a problem getting Phil to work on my car in a timely manner, but I think that's because he finds me pathetic enough to be amusing.
the problem is the there are no issues with the car they have all been taken care of already lol... all i need now is the tune...
I respect his response. Although I'm sure you're disappointed, it sounds straight forward and honest. He could take your money, tune the car and then tell you that any issue that you have is mechanical. Sounds to me like he believes that your car needs more attention than you're aware of. It's tough tuning cars. All of the work gets done, you tune it, something goes wrong and who's fault is it? I'm not sure what Phil sees wrong with your car from a distance as only he can tell you, but I can tell you that a high percentage of the cars that I've tried to help with were not ready for tuning when the car owners thought they were.

Same here ... Phil has been very gracious with his time.
After reading some of the above comments, went back and looked at tunes he emailed me for my C6 and compared them to what I'm running now. He sent me a startup tune for my C6 (I was new to C6 tuning) and got it running great. I'd log and email logs, usually in less then half an hour (if it was before 10 PM his time) I'd get a new tune. One time I went for a drive, sent logs and got a response (new tune) in less then 10 minutes.
In short, I still reference his Version 1 - 3B tunes because it gave me some great insight as to how correctly tune (steps 1, 2, 3...).
Oh, oddly enough after going down a pulley size and some other minor modes, his first guess PE table was really close to what is in there now.
Mike
Edit - I asked Phil how much and got no response, I figured out (guessed) his paypal account after getting base tune...

There's a well-known guy in my business (not the car business) who rarely responds. If he responded to every inquiry, he'd have no time to get any work done. What's a guy to do?
This same guy also "fires" clients who pi$$ him of, like if they don't show for an appointment or two.
There's a rather famous client who is all upset right now, because he got "fired".
