I was wondering if this oil pump is okay to run in my car. It is a 02 Z with Paxton, cam, full exhaust. It should be making around the 590hp range. I sold my LS6 pump thinking that my cam kit came with a new one, and to my discovery, it didn't. They have the melling 295 locally but that's it. Will this do the job? Thanks.

Yes not a problem.
I use them often.
The 10295 is a high pressure version
The 10296 is the high pressure.high volume version
Just to make sure that we are talking about the same 295. I think there are 2, the 10295 and the 295. The 295 is the stock OE replacment and I believe the 10295 has same volume but higher pressure or something like that. The OE replacment is the one that I can get my hands on.

Sorry you are correct.
M295 is the OE replacement.
10295 is the high pressure version.
I would have no issue using that M295 pump, a stock pump is more than adequate for what you are doing.
You can take that M295 and shim the pressure relief if you want to run a bit more pressure. Get a washer and shim it 50 thou. I think the SLP pumps are shimmed 80 thou.

well, I got my hands on the 10296 but it has the red spring in it. Is that going to be too much oil pressure? I have read that it can be too much and I have read that it is fine. What is the truth about this? Should I just go with a ported ls6 pump? Thanks for the help.

I would put the lighter spring in the pump but you can use it either way.
The way it is setup should not cause any issues with your setup.
The only time I have had any issus is on Twin Turbo Setups.
