2 bar SD tune, aps TT 347. Automatic, using stand alone tranny controller. Tuner is using efilive. Should you be able to get the idle right without the O2 sensors.? I had him turn mine off since one of them was acting erattic. He wants me to replace both sensors to help with trims. I see others tuning without O2 sensors and think mine could be tuned that way also. The car idles good up to about 165 degrees. Then when put into gear or ac turned on, it wants to die. While driving and then coming to a stop, the engine starts searching from 900 rpm down to 2-300, up and down and sometime dieing completely. This is without the ac on. Should he be able to get the idle correct with what I have?
As for the trans controller, does the engine controller know when it's in gear? This will affect the idle quality. If it doesn't know it's in gear, it can't predict the added load and adjust the airflow (throttle angle) to compensate.
Yes you can get the idle straightened out in open loop. BUT, the biggest factor is going to be the tranny controller, and whether or not the PCM knows it in gear.
