I need to change the belt on my car due to it slipping.I bought this Z06 last year, its has been great! (Miles of Smiles). It has a ecs bracket(older set up) with D1SC (8 rib Napa belt). I've put about 1500 miles on, plus what ever the last owner had on it (belt). Question 1: Is there an easy way to change the belt without removing the D1SC? Tensioner is tight against the rack & pinion no way to get a ratchet in square hole. Question 2: Should the tensioner also be replaced? It appears to be stock. My intent is to see how long a belt last with the current set up before changing to something else. The last owner put many miles on this set up,seemed happy with it.

There is no need to remove anything with an ECS kit to install a belt. We have a tensioner tool that comes with the kit that we can send you if you do not have one. It makes the install very fast, we can change a belt here in minutes.
Feel free to call the shop if you have any questions, or would like the tool. 609-752-0321
As mentioned ECS has a special tool that will fit onto the tensioner and allow you to relieve the pressure. If your changing the belt I would suggest a Gates HD green stripe and make sure the tensioner is between the 12-1 o'clock position.
Belt is changed- Back to full boost - Full smile is also back
Thanks to Doug and 95vettski. Ordered tool from from Doug. Got the old belt off real quick. New one didn't go on in 15 minutes. I had to move the abs unit up to get the belt to fit thru the gap. The new belt would not fit (to tight) even with the pulley under the d1sc unit fully loose.I took top bolt off on the alternator.(both belts same #) I able to get around the water pump. Tightened everything up, adjusted pulley, Tensioner is just past the 12 o'clock position. Lessons learned: 1-tensioner should be 12 to 1 o'clock position (also not prone to failure) 2-Large pulley is adjustable 3- There is a tool for the job: Bonuses 1-d1sc has a remote drain installed 2- bov had a k&n filter on it which needed to be cleaned. Chalk up another one to the forum Thanks again[IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG]
