As a preventive maintenance every 2-3 seasons of racing the pump should be changed as a proactive measure. Just like you should on fuel pumps, differencial fluid, brake fluid, etc. If you store the car for winter, drain the system and flush it out with tap water. If stored in below freezing, add some meth to the water so it doesnt freeze. Doing this will extend the life of the pump. Its not about mileage its about time in contact with methanol. Like putting your finger in acid. Methanol over time will go through the pumps head. They are rebuildable as long as water has not gotten into the motor.
Every 2 years is a good measure especially if your tune depends on it. Mine last 4 years without issue before I replaced it. I wouldn't recommend going that long though, what was I thinking.....
I've had my meth system for two year and every spring I have to replace my pump. Seems water gets in the motor from the top causing corrosion. The last one that I bought from Julio has a rubber glove sort of over the top that comes 3/4 down. We'll see if I have to replace it next spring.
