Is anyone running a speed density tune and still able to get there car nys inspected? I know you have to turn off your mass for a speed density. So is it possible to get a inspection sticker with sd tune?
It will depend on your county and city laws. Here in Houston all they read is the computer. They plug into the OBDII and if there are more than 1 not ready light it will fail. THey do not do emissions or sniffer test here.

Hope that helps some
Im pretty sure that what they do here is just plug into the obdII also so hopefully i can get a tune, with a sd tune the check engine light is on mayb i can just turn it off with hp tuners and hopefully it works. Thanks
I have a tune for inspection. Have "no error reported" for all the 02 and evap stuff. When you open up the scanner window and go to the check engine tab, in the bottom left you can see if the computer has the emissions and 02 readiness states go to go for the inspection. Usually you have to drive a couple miles to set them, if you turn them all off w/ the computer they will instantly say PASSED.

So your good to go
So i have to turn them off myself? Thanks for your help
I wish it was that easy. I have a tuner the only problem is he is 2 hours away and busy as hell and so am I. I have hp tuners just dont have a clue about tuning. I built my car myself I just don't have a clue how to tune it. Im trying to learn but its tuff, im going to take a class when i get some time just to know the basics.

On idle:
CO 1.55 (0.5 limit)
HC 1207 (100 limit)
O2 5.8 (5 limit)
On 2000 rpm:
CO 0.78 (0.3 limit)
HC 211 (100 limit)
O2 1.4 (5 limit)
I have a Magnacharger on LS1 with Comp Cams (@.050) 228/236 116LSA, .588/.601, LT headers, MAP-control without MAF.
Those pollution values are so far away from limits that there might be a mechanical problem here. Of course the cam affects in here but this much?
You should be able to get the CO down, but getting the HCs down will be hard.
Also, if they're checking for codes, and won't let one pass, you won't pass with an SD tune, as one of the MAF codes must be enabled, SES set to no light.

OBD is not a problem, they won't check that in our inspection. Only the sniffer test.

I hope this is only a mapping problem..
Should be able to tune most of it out. The cam overlap will fight you though. See if you can find a tuner who is using a gas analyzer, and not just a wideband. If you wanna make a trip to Va. I could help you out.
I am in Mass. I can not pass state inspection with an SD tune. The first complaint from the car to the inspector is a problem with the MAF, at that point it fails. If anyone passes the Mass inspection with an SD tune, I would like to know.
Thank You
