Default Curious mind. ECS or A&A ?

Pros/cons.. ECS S/C vs A&A S/C ?

Also, would it be best to install a S/C cam at the same time when installing a S/C on a LS6

Would like to know, by those that know.

If you feel better by PM ing, thats fine with me.
Thanks.

They are both great kits.

I went with A&A, I am pleased and I really like their customer service. ECS also has great customer service.

I would definitely do the ECS blower cam regardless of the SC kit you go with, my plan will be to eventually have the A&A kit (currently have) with the ECS blower cam.

I also have an LS6.

If you go with the A&A kit go with the T-trim or Ysi right away, boost is addicting and you will want more power eventually.

I would wait on the cam until you decide to go forged. The LS6 cam works pretty good with boost. 550 rwhp at 8 psi is pretty common on a LS6. You are on shaky ground with 650 rwhp on a stock bottom end. With a good tune it might last a while or a day. I recommend starting at 550, then up the boost when you get ready.

BTW I have a ECS Paxton and have been very happy with the kit and their service after the sell.

Very nice considering the look of your car. I like .

To the OP, I would shoot for 600rwhp and get the cam and meth. The cam will get you out of 550 and right to 600. This will be a lot of fun and may last in your car a very long time with the right tune.

they are both good. Just make sure you get a good cam. I have AA self lubricated with ECS blower cam. The car made 600+ and it drives like stock.

You dont need a cam to break 600 with the ECS kit. You will more than likely need meth. Our base kit can make more power out of the box than you will want on the stock bottom end... but relaibility is key.

The greatest pros to our kit are: 1) a bigger head unit capable of 10k hp, and 8 second qtr mile times. The Novi 2000 in the base kit will flow 1400cfm. No other C5 system has gone faster. None.

2) ECS kits have a upgraded belt system. ECS has upgraded steel, double bearing idlers and vs plastic idlers and comes with a fixed idler kit that replaces the weak ps/alt idler.

3) HD belt tensioner vs a relocated stock tensioner (and the kit comes with a tensioner tool)

4) Our ECS kit comes new radiator cradle which optimally positions the large Intercooler and radiator for more airflow.

5) 4 in 6061 aluminum ducting from IC to throttle body, with 4 ply silicone hoses.

6) Base Kit comes with a valve cover breather, and a catch can.

7)Lifetime, cleanable air filter and a 4 in polished inlet duct.

8) restrictor plate that helps increase low end HP and torque, while keeping the top end safe from over boosting.

9) Track Records: ECS holds pretty much every SC qtr mile record. Fastest SC'd C5 (or C6 for that matter) 8.46 @ 158, Fastest SC's stock bottom LS1: 9.73@143, Fastest Stock Bottom LS6 9.75@143.... not that track records are everything, but they prove the systems work under extreme conditions. The systems have logged thousands and thousands of street miles tho. and as far as I know, we are the only mfg to even attempt doing this with a sc'd C5.

Down side? Cost. Our systems cost more. But you get more. And if you like most people who go SC'd you're going to do a lot of upgrades down the line for more power and reliability. With our kits most of your upgrades are built in. Look around the forums.... very few people put a kit on and never upgrade anything else.

If you want more info feel free to give me a call at the shop.

Mike,
what do I need to do to get one of those tensioner tools? It did not come with my kit. That is my only complaint with your system. It is hard to take the tension off the tensioner. I have to use a combination of pry bars and vise grips.
Thanks

About 5 years of basically trouble-free daily driver miles on mine. Not just cruising with traffic though, the tires get spun up almost every time I go out.

Thats impressive for sure, but honestly I'm more impressed that he has 1,200 passes on his stock bottom end, besides holding the record for it. Shawn also was the winner of the Pro 10.50 this year too at the ECS Corvette challenge in a very tight field. You cant do that with a charger thats not reliable!

(btw Mike, your first post says the kit is capable of 10k HP, we're good, but not that good..)
