Default ATI Cog setup

Ok, I picked up a F1, ATI cog kit and bracket off Fleebay the other day. Good deal and was looking for a headunit upgrade anyway, just wasn't sure I wanted to stay w/ Procharger.

So the cog kit has me thinking, what is everyone's stance on these? I think I have only seen 3 guys using them. It is the crank pulley, powersteering, alt, and head unit pulley.

I already have a Flip-Drive, so I would only be using the crank pulley and headunit. I am not goin to spinning that F1 very hard, so the cog may just be overkill.
Input?!?!?!?

do you need to move rack forward with that crank pulley?

I don't believe so. It uses a 30mm cog belt, which is roughly 1.18" wide. A 8 rib serp. belt is 1.10" top width from what I could find.

If you purchase the flipdrive kit then you can have your own dedicated cog belt running the blower. However, under normal driving conditions and some wot throttle the cog worked well, Hit the rev limiter one time and the belt will break. I ran the cog setup for appx 6 months, and just switched over to a 10rib setup.

Converted from 8 to 10-rib here. Hoping to test it out soon.

That is what I was afraid of. I heard that the cog belts and rev limiter don't get along.

Yes I did. No one made a cog belt in kevlar in the length I needed, therefore, I kept breaking belts. At the Holley LS event, guys were breaking 50mm cog belts as well, so for what I do with my vette, the 10 rib will work just fine.

How is the 10 rib working for you Chris, any runs at the track with it?

No sir, I just got the belt in today. Installing in a few, then I will be able to give some feedback.

You'll need a Big BOV, like a Big Red, some solid motor mounts will help and maybe even a strut brace for bracket flex.

And makes sure the belt is far away from any fuel or coolant lines-the cog belt will shear right through that.

If your car's an auto you have a better chance to get it too live, stick car not so much.

I had it on my Novi 2000 back in 96, but the cog pullies were around 50mm wide.

I am not running the cogs. Procharger said I need a 4.75" pulley to keep my boost down around 13#. I don't think w/ that large of a pulley and a Flip Drive I am goin to have slip issues.

So.... anyone intrested in buying a cog set? Sell it for a good price
