intercooler?

intercooler?
I was wondering since im new to the vette world, what is the most common intercooler for the DIY guy.
For my 370ci LQ4 Turbo Iroc I used the generic ebay intercooler with great success but im looking for something that comes out at the top like most of the guys setups on here have.
Im not looking for the cheapest but im deffinitly not spending 1500 on an intercooler for a DIY build
Plans are a single T76 Rear mount (.81ar), prob run 7-8psi on the stock motor and build either a LS1 or LS2 on the side, also tempting is an aluminum 5.3 for the thicker walls!
I still have my built 370ci in my garage awaiting the guy to pay me the rest of the money for it. If it wasnt an iron block I would toss it in the vette im picking up.
I wanna try to keep the car as light as possible.
