Are there any options for putting a waste gate type set up in a blown car for boost control? I come from the turbo world and understand multi stage and progresive controllers. Is it just all about pully size for superchage applications?
Absolutely.
I discussed this some years ago with a builder (I forget who, I vaguely remember it was a crew that came here from Australia to visit my friend's shop) and it makes a lot of sense.
Just exhausting compressed air vs exhaust gases.
I'm surprised more centri blower setups don't use it.
Maybe just a cost factor.
Another option is to put a throttle body-like apparatus in front of the blower that works on a boost controller based on speed or gear. Dallas Performance has this.
Most centri guys don't have the problems that turbo guys do, as in too much boost, and trying to keep it down. Not many f1 guys are trying to run 5lbs boost. If it were me I would put a ebay cheap bov on it with out the vacuum line and let the boost push it open at a set pressure. Pretty simple actually.
A blower is pretty much a set mechanical boost. The pulley controls the speed/boost. Only way to do it is to overspin the blower(stress the belt) and blow off boost pressure. It's hard to control this way.

Thanks Don, now get back to work. Let her rip and see what she's got, 700rwhp?
Been running my car this way for several years...Works perfect. Low boost is 13psi and with the push of a button, high boost is max boost of the pulley I'm running..18psi or so.. Here is the thread on it..

Nice info.
Pretty simple, really.
Great to see it is working as you planned.
Like you mentioned in that thread, it really is dependent on your tune being set up correctly.
A good SD tune is the way to go, for sure.
Nice work!
