Default Quaiffe diff

Getting a level 6 rpm trans-I see they have Quaiffe differentials they claim accelerate better.I have a 342 gm rear-10yrs old-no probs.Thinking of higher gears for more power down low-anyone recommend the quaiffe vs the gm?How about higher gears?I dont do many 180mph runs anymore...mostly under 100.Looking for a change.D1 procharger old dual int system is what I have w/forged motor-Thanks

I exploded my diff and needed to fix in a hurry, so we did a Quaife. I do like it, and no clutches to worry about. It's not really any faster but it does improve control putting power down. It's hard to describe, with less side to side wiggle and more grip and go.

Good food for thought.

It feels almost like the torque is moving between the tires, trying to keep them moving at an even speed while you are moving sideways down the street I mean down the track.

If by "GTR type thing" you mean nissan GTR and an electronic differential, no, it's 100% not that.

We have installed a few Quaiffe's and personally I like the new Eaton unit better. Our seasoned racers didnt get a lot of time out of them for the cost.
The Eaton's have both hardened shafts, and no clutches, at a few hundred dollars less. Plus they are a lot lighter.

I know of three guys that put them in, and I know that 2 pulled them out after breaking. Not sure about the third, I think he had problems as well..
Could have been the setup, but I doubt it, they were built by a great shop...
Not for me...

I just had mine built with the Quaife. Only time will tell.

I have a friend that owned a 6-speed 8.70 second TT Viper and never hurt his Quaife Differential. I think he broke everything else around it, but never the Quaife.

Pretty sure jbsblownc5 runs one. I believe they have a limited lifetime warranty, fwiw. Sad part is I lost my paperwork for it.

I wonder what kinda short times the guys ran that broke. Good to know about the Eaton unit, if ever looking for something else.
