Default New Approach

I already have a KB set up but want to try something else. I am thinking of trying Cartek's kit with a Procharger F1R. I have a built 402, afr 225 heads, RSI fuel sys, dual meth and was wondering about a few questions with new set up. What intake/throttle body for best performance? I have herd that some of the FAST intakes will crack under hight boost and I want to run around 18+lbs of boost. What positve/neg feedback dealthing with Cartek and what power leves I should see. Thanks for all the help and I am hoping for lots of positive feedback.

I have never had Cartek do any work, but there are people that swear by them and people that hate them like all the other big shops.

As for the intake, FAST's have reported ruptured/burst etc but the details are sketchy most of the time (ported? not ported? burst panels?)

Good luck, post in the FI section when your KB goes up for sale!

Just how much power you'll make will depend on a few variables but it does sounds as if you have some of the basics needed for making some awesome power once you combine it with Cartek's expertise.
You can use a FAST intake in lower boost applications and probably even see some benefits from it, but it's typically not necessary. Most street oriented (aka: none sheet metal or cast style intakes) supercharger/turbo set ups just stick with the stock intake manifold because it's one piece (ie: stronger) and it works well with forced induction.
I believe the latest FAST manifolds (the 102mm versions) are a little stronger/thicker and able to handle a little more than the older ones but I would probably still use an OEM style intake if going with a blower, especially at 18+psi.
If you already have a FAST intake you can even sell it to help offset some of the costs of the new combo.

I've been dealing with Cartek for roughly 10 years and 3 different cars now and have been VERY happy with their workmanship and the results achieved.
Their supercharger kit is a truly solid package and has been road, track and dyno proven.

Thanks for all the replies, I am def leaning toward going back to the stock ls6 intake then with hearing what you have all told me and other stories about the FAST intakes coming apart. What throttle bodies are you using seeing that I have a ls2 fly by wire system? I dont want to leave anything to chance or even close as I dont have a lot of time to enjoy my car bec of deployments to the desert.

Unless you are trying to make a great deal of power you are ok with the LS6 intake. You can make the same power at less boost if you have a bigger intake and TB.

ok so I am getting a pretty good warm and fuzzy that the stock ls6 intake and stock 76mm ls2 throttle body is what I want for a F1R supercharger system. Does anyone know where I could get one and how much of a difference would getting a ported one make?

I run a ported LS2 intake and TB on my setup and have no complaints. I chose the LS2 intake because of the larger TB.

The only advantage is you use the larger 90mm tb vs the stock ls1/6 78mm tb. Oh and all c5/c6's are drive by wire.

well Im thinking of going with a ported ls2 intake and throttle body by Bare Essential Racing, anyone do business with them and what are your experiences? Should be ordering my Cartek kit today but herd there will be a couple week wait time on F1R and maybe longer for the Ron Davis shorter radiator
