Default Inlet Air Temperature

Whats an ideal, or acceptable, inlet air temt. I have a single 76mm T-4 turbo and I'm logging 130* at the start and 180* at the end of the 1/4 mile. Is this OK?, Too hot? Not hot enough?

That seems kinda high, do you have an intercooler? I've seen near 140 reading without meth and then with meth the IAT drops below ambient. For an example, a hot summer day rolling into the burnout box with IAT at 110 already. Instead of going to 140+, it stayed under 85 degrees during the run with meth. Maybe you run OK that high, but I think you would run better with lower temps.

Yes, I am running a intercooler, about 24" x 10" x 3". I am also drawing air through a twin K&N air filter. I may be able to route a tube with outside air to the turbo inlet instead of the air cleaners in the compartment drawing hot air.
I am sure cooler is better, but whats the cutoff?
Is the meth triggered by a vacuum switch, or WOT?

Maybe an experienced tuner will share some insight. Mine is tuned to start pulling timing above 120 degrees. I use the Alkycontrol kit from ECS that's activated by MAP sensor. It's pretty popular here.

I start pulling timing @ 130F.
Definitely too hot in the hot tub!
Are you logging timing, detonation?
I don't think your sensor will read above about 180 so you may be alot higher. Turbo is definitely the way to go.
Good luck.

I would say temps that are below 150 are ok.. I like below 120.. Ambient is real nice.

Your IC is sized too small for your application. Or you have air flow issues through it. Simple.

Power increase is negligible below 130 degree's.

Better keep it on race gas running those IAT's. or start looking into methanol injection.

My Mustang with a Turbonetics T76 T4 .96 ar turbo and using a procharger IC I saw 196 at 14 PSI boost. On the meth setup I see 90 degree's at 20 PSI boost.
