2000 ls1 d1 charger, tsp cam just finished the build, starting to put miles on it and oil pressure is low about 18 at idle and 30# at around 50miles an hour, changed oil filter to ams and running the ams oil 10/30 as well since i changed the filter the pressure came up to about 27 at idle and 45 at around 50 miles an hour,so im getting happy.not so fast on the way home tonight the oil pressure just climbed to 130,any help greatly appreciate thank you..
sounds like your oil pressure sending unit is going out. It's on the back of the block behind the intake. Don't go fussing too much. It's not that bad to get to. An hour to get to it, taking your time. It takes a 1-1/16" socket to pull it off.
Some people relocate it.
Some cut holes in the cowl under the plastic cover and swap it without removing the intake.
just put a brand new one in last week, thats what makes me wonder what the hell are these sensors made of if that is the problem looks like aem guage coming up..

Try putting an aftermarket gauge on there for a sanity check and see what you end up with. You can pull the oil temp gauge and housing off, drill and tap it for a 1/8" pipe and put a pipe plug in it when you're done.
thanks i will do that.and the guage is brand new from chevy dealer, nothing like building something new and loosing good sleep over this ****,this car is going to kill me slowly, only put about 150 miles so far and every drive is *** puckering..

Car had a bad sensor when I bought it. So I replaced it. I had 2 replacement oil pressure senders from GM go bad. One lasted a few days, the other one lasted ~6 months. Got one from Autozone and it has been working great for the past 4 years. No issues. Looks identical to the GM and had the same numbers on it.
