I trust the stock crank over Eagle products.

This kind of thing is a small risk in a 4-500hp engine. IMO it's too risky in an engine making your kind of power. Over 800RWHP you should really consider a good forged crank. Eagle ain't that.

Man that stinks, I did call it as the crank in your other thread!

Go with a better brand, once it's fixed you'll start forgetting about these issue's and enjoy your car.

FWIW Scotty, I wouldn't run any aftermarket crank after it's been turned down .10-that's goes for a Compstar, Eagle or K1.

Callies Magnum or a Lunati Sledgehammer maybe.

Gotta say you are taking it like a champ! You've had more than your share of motor problems. Glad you're not getting down about it.

Made a couple of calls and the consensus was the Eagle cranks are better than I gave them credit for. They say it appears the metal is still good going on drilling on them and racing experience FWIW. And they thought they were good to about 1500 flywheel. So my apologies to Eagle.

I think the crank either had an early crack in it already and/or it wasn't quite radius-ed properly causing the failure.

Between the Lunati and Callies crank they preferred the Callies saying the quality control was better again FWIW.

I'm sure many here either know this or have their own learned opinions but I thought I'd throw this out there.

My block was fine but I did have the engine taken out and sent back to the machine shop. They went through the whole thing and rechecked everything. I use HKE to do the work. I had to wait like 3 months to get a new crank. HKE was having trouble getting cranks at the time due to that he no longer uses eagle and only callies, or so I was Erik. My rotating assembly is now Diamond pistons, eagle rods and callies crank.

We seem to have had similar issues. Short run down on my history and issues since my ls6 broke. This was all brand new parts, no cheap parts or used stuff.

Initial 408 went bad due to a intake valve seat falling out of a head from a top of the line manufacturer and ruined the engine. After lots of arguing, fighting and paperwork not sure I can say the name on a public. I replaced the heads, one rod and one piston. There was no cylinder scaring so I took a risk and hoped everything else was good.

After replacing this stuff and driving it for a bit, it developed fluctuating oil preasure issues. Got it apart and it had spun a rod bearing. The journal the rod was on had a small crack in it. HKE said it was fixable so they did the same thing you are talking about and had it welded and turned.

After that was fixed I got a bad thrust issue and a damaged crank again. The shop I use for the install and HKE both believed it was due to the under drive pulley going bad. I am finally running for almost a year and it all seems good.
