Default Finally getting boosted

Andy At A&A offered me such a great deal I could not pass it up. So kits in the mail for my 2000 FRC. I have 5 months to install it an learn how to become a tuner !

I live In Calgary Alberta Canada an was just going to take it to Davenport. But after calling them today I was told they will not tune my car, if I Buy a kit else where an install it myself. Its there policy ???? whats up with that ???

Andy from A&A was going to flash my PCM with a base map. But After trying to ship it from Canada to USA an stupid UPS with there outrages Broker FEES. I guess I will just buy hp tuners software . Is there any company or fellow members that could sell me or email a base map or give me some sore of starting points ???

I don't really trust too many people with anything I own. I know how to adjust A/F mapping on motorcycle with power commander but the car mapping software is alot more complex. !! I would like to be able to store my stock base map and learn the mapping/tuning myself. Even if it means finding someone to dyno tune it aswell in the end. I love to learn anything electronics !!!

IF it was not for the fact of the mountains an a supercharger kit install.(but not set up !) I would just take the 2 day drive to A&A an pay them !!!

Andy can forward you a base tune for you to start from. Get a wideband and if you need help tuning, contact Ed Hutchings (edcmat-l1) for remote tuning. It'll be way better than a mail-order tune and as good as a dyno tune.

Been reading an learning lots. Since I talked too you on the phone yesterday. Have decided to go with the Hp tuner pro an run a wide band O2 an 2 bar map. Thanks for backing up edcmat-l1. I just joined the Hp tuner form last night. He was the first to response. I want to make sure people I deal with really know there stuff.

I know this is not going to be a easy over night learning curve. An I would rather do all the work myself. I stared in high school working at a honda dealership few years later international truck dealership. Did the first year apprenticeship at loylast collage. Have taking short 6 month courses for electronic repair entry level, Worked for TV repair place very short time. And the last 5 years with sears canada fixing appliance. The amount of electronics in the new appliances is stupid an way too many boards all linked together . I was going to go by a rf frequency generator , an olli scope for the laptop just for tricking the new VCC /VFD boards. Just because I wanted to know really whats going on with new controls . But sears will not pay for that an I guess its easy just to change the board an waist money hahah.
So this is awsome because I was wondering what I was going to do all winter with out ending up in the mental hospital because I had nothing to keep my mind active !!!! Cant drive my car , cant take my bike to the track, gawd snow sucks. Can Anyone find me a wife in the USA where its HOT LOL !!!

Thanks , just going to fire it up in a few mins coffee break ! .

For now I am going to keep the MAF , Only concern was oil blow by fowling it up ... Was talking to a buddy at work thats into turbos, an he was saying thats a issue.

Definitely going with a permanent Wide band not sure what one yet. Thinking dyno jet just cuz I love the stuff they make for the crotch rockets !

Learning an doing lots of reading. Playing around with hp tuners Found a few base tunes an just learning what others are doing. So many different opinions ....

Keep in touch I an interested in how your set up goes. I have lots of time to figure out what I will do to finish it up ....

Fired up awsome had that nice whistle to ER for a while. But once is warmed up something dint sound quite right. Found the problem right away. Not sure if I got the wrong belt in the kit or a pulley else where is not stock when I bought the car. But The belt would not go on took me a hour fighting with it. Had to Take off the manual idler pulley install the charger with the bracket pulling on it as this was loading the auto tensioner. So when everything was bolted down the belt was loaded an tight. Got the manual tensioner in an loader even more. Everthing seemed good,

Take a look at the pics this is what happend no biggie just have too grind this tab down on the thermostat housing an get another pulley. I guess I messed up somewhere

That's not a problem. That's the way these belts go on. Glad to read that you worked it out.
