What is the word on double roller vs single roller?
I would love to do a LS2 or C5R chain with LS1/LS6 Dampener, but there are "cheaper" options out there in the double roller market.
You can find the JP Performance 5615T double roller setup for 96 dollars shipped. Seems like a "too good to be true" situation when you compare it to the C5R chain w/ dampener. That setup will run you 250+ shipped.
I also found that you can get a dampener from Cloyes. Part number 9-5491. It is around 25 shipped. Not sure if it works on the LS1/LS6, or if it is just for the LS2 and above.
Cloyes Hex-A-Just with the Z chain /w out the dampener is also around 250.

Anyways... thoughts!
The dampener only works on the LS2. Different bolt spacing for the older ones.
My preference is the Cloyes with the Z-chain. Not a place to chinch out IMO.

Could not agree more, during my research I have seen way too many cars with broken chains, bent valves, and broken pistons.
I've retrofitted the ls2 guide on a ls1 block, but it's a tight fit. The bosses on the block are not quite in the right location on the early blocks to drill and tap, but it can be done. Looks like katech might have the older ls1/ls6 blocks also, but they are almost $100.
