Default turbo kits

ok im a big boost fan. i had a big turbo camaro ss, and i loved the way it ran. if i had to i could drive it daily and take it to the track and beat *** with it. the motor from that camaro is still good, so im planing on putting it in my new project. im unsure of how i want the setup to be like. my camaro was a single turbo and it would spool as fast as i needed it.

now ive looked at a few kits, sts, aps, tti, hinson. if im missing a company plz lmk. im not a fan of the sts's, idk but something about that much pipeing and oil lines makes me on the edge.
The tti's and aps's kits looks good untill i get to the cold pipes i dont like how they come through the innerfenders/wheel well area.
The hinson kit has really cought my eye. it is a front mount which i like, but the heat worries me. and im not sure how i like the water to air intercooler tho.

my question is what kits have you guys used, and whats the like and unlikes about them

I've been running a TTi Stage X kit for the last six or seven years. This is a stock cube (346ci) setup and runs high 9s at 140+ even in the summer heat using pump 93 fuel.

Likes - Reliability (no belt issues), performance, sound (turbos just sound badarse), and adjustability (I can turn the boost up/down at the flick of a switch).

Cons - Hrm, I don't have any real bitches with the kit. I've heard installation is a bit involved, but I didn't care as I had a pro install mine. Some people in hot climates (FL) have reported heat issues where they ended up adding additional fans, hood changes, and so on. I live in the Mid West and haven't experienced such issues.

I have the hinson kit on my c5. I put a blanket on the Turbo. And I just put a a&a intercooler on in place of the air to water. Its a really ez kit to install.

I plan on copying the kit from unleashed performances single c5 build. I think their rwhp #'s are a little off, but i like how the kits placed. Im gathering parts now for the build. Car already makes 420 at the tire so I'll have a little more fun with that

i've heard of heat issues, but i shouldn't have any. i have a tigershark front bumper (increased airflow), an ACP Stinger hood (increased airflow/designed for PTK kit) and a Ron Davis Radiator. i highly doubt i'll have heat issues

I made my own single turbo kit made 670rwhp 625rwtq with only 11psi and 13 deg of timing 10.9 A/F on 91octane Setup will easily make 800+rwhp with more boost.

Now I'm thinking about going 427ci LSX GT91 for 1300+rwhp

Most turbo kits are 80% plumbing....and the best way to do that is onsite fabrication. Then it just components..turbo, BOV, and WG

UV has a really good concept which is supported by the advance in turbo technology.....quick spool! and oil-less.
http://www.unleashed-performance.com...bo-c5-project/

I love the "catback" or mid/rear mount designs....easier fab, easier to install, maintain, etc. It separates the heat sources too....engine, trans, and turbo......Most "good" muffler shops can fab a mid/rear mount design.

A lot of japanese guys in my area (SoCal) have moved to this design(rear mount) as well. Its more of a "bolt on" design that can be removed quickly for smog(which is important for me)........or thrown on to another car. The all swear by that oil-less Comp CT43.....

Another thing they are doing is eliminating the intercooler. Because the air from the turbo gets cooled while its traveling from the rear. I did see one with an inline intercooler, looked like a 4 foot long cat with ram air fins on the bottom......but they said it didn't really help as much as they thought it would.
