Default BOV question

If a BOV is pre-MAF and it evacuates into the engine, isn't that unregulated air? Wouldn't it be better to vent to atmosphere?

I don't know of any BOV (for a late model Corvette FI system) that vents into the engine. They all vent to atmosphere. I believe the PD blowers have an internal bypass valve that recirculates air thru the blower unit

It's an STS system, The directions want the vent to go to the brake booster with a "T". To me that seems like air directly into the engine, since the booster is sealed and pulls from the manifold.

Post some pics of what you have.

Unless you have a recirculating BOV/bypass valve I would think that
Your using a T to go off the brake booster so you can have a good vacuum source, nothing else. When you smash the throttle, or just accelerate into boost, engine vacuum goes away and boost pressure increases. When you let off the accelerator ( the engine creates more vacuum until the amount of vacuum needed to over come the BOV/ bypass valve spring pressure is met thus causing the valve to open and vent the charge air that is trying to move backward through the system (This boost pressure being vented to atmosphere is that whoosh sound that you hear that everyone likes) instead of allowing it to move back into the compressor housing of your turbo. If the boost pressure was allowed to coke backward through your charge piping and slam into the turbine blades of your turbo in the opposite direction the turbo is trying to spin, then you would have what is referred to as compressor surge. This is bad and will destroy your turbo.
