Guys I hae a TTi set of twins on my car and from a dead stop it is a dog I think due to the stock verter. I want to install a converter that will snap you neck from a dead stop. It also must be tight and drive like stock once you are moving. A year ago or so someone posted a truck converter that raised the the stall to around 1800 rpms...will this work or should I install a performance type converter.
If you are going through the work to put a stall in just buy a good one. A stall is one of the best mods for the money if you get a good one. If you are tight on money you could check the lt1 fbody boards for a used one. I would look for a 2600-3000 stall speed of you want it tight.
You're looking for the Mike Mercury converter! Do a search, Mike has a great write up on it....
If you buy this one better get a pallet full so you can change them when they shuck the turbine fins.
Contact PI and order the correct converter for your application, I have their 2600 stall with a triple disc and love it.
I've tried all brands of converters over the years.
For a street car that you want it to still feel like stock from light to light driving normal, then call Yank. They can spec one out based on your setup. Will still hit hard at WOT and have nice close shift extensions too.

Josh is right I have a Yank SS2800 and for my application it does a fine job.
obviously not for (or recommended for) extremely modded high HP motors.

I may be wrong but this TTi set up is an extremly modded HP engine, the converter your reccomending is for a 6 cyl M van.
Not hardly applicable to a 600rwhp Corvette. JMHO
I got a nice Precision triple disc 3200 from RPM. Then later had it adjusted to 3600. Stalls right into boost. What gears do you have?
Also worth mentioning, they offer one free adjustment, or cut/clean if you ever want it. Mine with 3200 was fine, but I just decided to try something more aggressive and loosened to 3600. I also heard about a "turbo mod" so you can brake boost, that I'd like to try. Right now I can footbrake to about 2500rpm before pushing thru the brakes, and would like a little more so it will build boost off the line.

Yank ss3200. Had one for years. On the drag strip and street. Then I went to my 3800, liked the 3200 a lot more for the street... Of course, on the track, the 3800 is awesome!

my bad; wasn't well versed with that package
, the converter your reccomending
I didn't recommend anything in this thread. I was emailed this link by someone that said there was mis-information about something I have personal experience with.
is for a 6 cyl M van
did you read the specs?
did you read the words from Danny Popp ?
do you know more than him?
do you have more wrenching and setup experience than him?
did you read where they have been using this converter - for years and years - without any issues (granted, with mostly stock C5's though)?
Yep; you're correct here; the car has too much power for this converter; but lets not accidentally spread mis-information about legit uses for proven modifications either.
