I am a believer in doing things the natural way, and then having Nitrous there for when you need that extra 150-200hp of power. Nitrous is MUCH MUCH more simple to install and tune than a blower and also costs much less.
This is just my opinion, but I have not seen or heard any blower stories that have overly impressed me. There has to be a reason that even though fbody LS1 blowers have been out for years, those guys still prefer going the natural route.
How often do you race or flog it is the most important question. Nitrous is so easy any novice can get their hands on a kit and install it and know exactly what is going on. Supercharger requires alittle more experience. It's also more costly. I think it just comes down to how often I really needed to use it. If you already have alot of power all motor, nitrous may just be good for those rare occassions.

I can ananswer that. most of the F-Body guys go with NOS the same reason they went with the F-Body and not the vette MONEY . Yes Its cheaper and thats about the only thing it has on a blower. They both do the same thing and thats force air into the motor. When I think of NOS I don't picture it on a vette. Oh and about tuning how much easier can it get then a micro tuner plug and play. I have not had a single problem with my supercharger. If you want ridiculouse HP build a motor for both a S/C and NOS the S/C will almost double the HP of the gas when used together..
If ATI's one-size-fits-all superchips microtuner actually worked for you, then yours is a very rare case. Superchargers require custom tuning to get them working perfectly and that gets proven over and over. Just check out all the threads in this section and see what I mean.
Also, Nitrous does not work on the same principals as a Supercharger at all. Nitrous does not force more air into the motor, it Nitrogen actually extremely cools the air/fuel mixture in the chamber and its oxygen makes the air/fuel charge more conbustable which creates a boost in power.
I also really do not agree with your fbody analagy either. Many of them drive fbodies because that is the car they want. I know not all fbody owners are dreaming of owning C5s and had to settle for an fbody. Also, MOST of the fastest C5s in the world are running nitrous. How many are running superchargers??
Don't forget about the additional torque that you get with nitrous. You will many times see 20% more torque with nitrous than any comparable blown setup that makes equal HP.
this is simple, need cheap, go with nitrous, good hp, easy install, but when you run out while playing you will have to wait.
Supercharger, cost more, longer install, but not that difficult. get constant power, never runs out and if you keep the car better cost ratio. all agree 150hp is 150 hp with either system. i have ran NOS very happy, but now i am getting the Supercharger for unlimited fun.
I could spend about $1K on nice Nitrous setup and gain 150 HP and install it easily myself.
I could spend $6K+ on just the ATI kit, and run the risk of having all sorts of complications getting the kit to work right, as many of our forum brothers have struggled through.
Assuming money were no object (wish that were true) I would have to admit I would definately go with the ATI, or both.
Assuming I wanted to drive it like I stole it 110% of the time I would go with the SC.
I am trying to keep a clean driving record :blueangel: , and just have the option available to kick major butt on a rare occasion. I don't think I have the self control not to use the SC all the time, so right now I am leaning toward the nitrous route.
If I decide I want the power there all the time, and don't want to have to refill a bottle, then I will go with the SC. You can always sell either one if you change your mind, and probably get back 75% of your money. To me the SC is a bigger risk all around.
But I'm not going to lie, money being a mute point I would go with a blower, and probably a lot more than that!
If I have a 150hp extra available, then self control goes out the window. Blower or NOS. No way to keep the foot out of it. I'm up to two bottles week.
:smash:  :) :)
I'm paying for my SC the American way... C R E D I T!
Seriously though, after researching, it seems to me that an ATI blower is significantly less money that a built 400+ cid motor.. and, I don't have that much credit..
Nitrous is great, and I know many people who run it on a regular basis, but I think all you have to do is run lean and........ It's a little less forgiving...
That'd said.. would I have to have my car tuned differently to run nitrous on top of an ATI SC? (I think I would have to have some timing pulled out?)

Thats what factored into my decision when I opted for the SC. I didnt want to take that chance. Regardless from the threads on this board I havent heard much about Nitrous mishaps.
