Today real fabrication begins! I'm off work the next 4 days to get everything all tacked together. Predictably my back is out this morning from mopping my garage floor last night. This is going to be a long few days

Hindsight, I should have used 2" schedule 10 for the manifold. It is TIGHT in there. I've been out there staring at it for the last hour trying to figure out how to fit a 3" downpipe past my log.

Here is the cheap and easy way.And you could run a bigger downpipe.

Have to be a little though.

Haha I showed my wife a Honda pic like that with the turbo above the hood and suggested it would make things easier. She was like "Are you ***ing serious?!"

I have made some progress. I had to modify my log a bit. It cleared the starter fine, but it was dead center in the space for everything. I shortened it a bit so I can get the downpipe behind it. I haven't really gotten far, but I've figured a bunch of things out and have it worked out in my head.

this has been teh problem in the past. Hinson has a kit but its only 2.5 in. Guess you have to notch the frame to get a larger. I wonder if a oval would work?

That 2.5" pipe that Hinson uses would be so much easier than my schedule 10. 2.5" schedule 10 pipe is nearly 3" OD, so its taking up a lot of space.

Honestly its all about the packaging and fitment. Unless you have insane power goals the 2.5" is not a restriction at all. 2" schedule 10 (its like 2.2 id) would have been easier to work with and still flowed more than enough air for my power goals. If I didn't have to do this part of the project this week I would order the smaller pipe and start over.

Your power goals always change. I said the same thing lol do it right the first time. IMO 2.5 is too small.

Yep, I think I have it figured out to make it work. So I'm running a 2.635" ID manifold vs Hinsons 2.37" ID. Not to mention its MUCH thicker to help resist cracking.

My back is done for the day and I'm almost out of daylight anyway(neighbors go to bed early ). So I will hit it again at dawn tomorrow

If your talking about the crossover and pipe leading to the turbo then 2.5" should be fine there. If you're talking about 2.5" for the downpipe then that's def too small. Pretty sure you're talking about the crossover tho and people are getting confused lol.

*edit just read that you were talking about the mani...you're fine there IMO

Nope, dp. I looked into doing a turbo befor I went procharged. 3 in dp is def a issue w the c5.

"Issue" is relative to what your goals are. For a daily driven street car not looking to exceed 700hp, it is NOT an issue. For someone looking to go bigger your turbo wont fit where I'm putting it anyway so its really not relevant. At that point your car is so far modified you can just go through the frame, fender where ever and you wouldn't be going to all the trouble I am to fit it in a stock engine bay under a stock hood.

Why is it only on "That" cut. The one that you need to be perfect to line everything up. The one that you measured 10 times just to be sure. Why is it that cut that your chop saw blade doesn't go all the way through because its become too small to cut 3" pipe.

ok I'm done for the day. Thankfully its been raining here in Florida yesterday and most of today so I made decent progress while it was cool(80s). Sun finally came out this afternoon and turned all that water into energy sapping humidity

Most of the hotpipes are done. I just need to add the wastegate standoffs and flanges. I was going to fab a splitter to go from 3" to my dual 2.5" but decided to cheat and just ordered a magnaflow one.

I still haven't done the primaries on the manifold yet. I'll be doing that on the bench another time.
