Default balancer upgrade?

Are you guys using your stock LS1 balancer or buying a aftermarket when you build a medium/high, boost/hp engine.
I was wondering if I should reuse my stock balancer when building my forged shortblock, or look for somthing else.

No, replace it. It will fail or atleast it did for me at 12 psi. I bought a new one and it started separating at 4300 miles

I did an ATI after blowing my stock pulley with 10 pounds. Go ahead and upgrade.

ahhh; good thing I asked. I have the stock one pinned at 10-11psi, but will try to run a little more so I figured Id ask.
Thought about an overdrive if I had to, but not sure how tha would affect engine balance, etc.

I have two cars right now at 15 psi..for over a year, no issues at all.. and we have taken the blancer off a few times.

But.. if you do go OD.. might as well go 8 rib.. then you might as well buy my 8 rib stuff i've got.. fixing to put it up for sale and make you a great deal on just about everything you need.

It seems the most common size and brand is the 8" diameter innovators west piece. It runs about 550 new.

Make sure you have a SFI certified balancer. You can't get on the
track without that certification.

I'm sure some run them but they're less common.

The better stuff isn't a bad investment. Considering how much stress is put on them.

That is a good price, but I wonder if I am going to spend money on an upgrade, should I go oversize and get more belt wrap with a larger blower pulley.

I agree they take a lot of abuse, but with this car spending 95% of its time cruising (out of boost) is it a must have?

I ordered a stock diameter that was supposed to be SFI approved according to a vendors website. Got it and it was a stock replacement. Avoid it.

Great deal, if I didn't already have an ATI I'd jump on this in a heartbeat.
Nice thing about ATI is all you have to change to add ribs is the outer pulley and not the whole balancer.
