We installed a pusher fan also with my kit and it did not seem to help. we have over heating issues as well and we are running a three core hd radiator. ati needs to address this but they act like its not an issue. relocating the intake tract for cooler air and using the stock fan shroud is the answer... we are looking into designing something different as well.

As long as 50% of the people say they have no problems ATI will do nothing. I got sick of talking to ATI about it so I just took care of it myself. Its the same with the F-bodies, some said they have no problems in 100 degree heat, some (like me) had problems at 85 degrees with the a/c on stuck in traffic. You know how it goes on forums when one vocal person flames every post that someone posts that are negative about a problem with a certain product - the people go elsewhere or stop posting in fear of an argument trying to get an issue resolved.

I'm not saying the product is flawed, people use their cars in different ways and some expect more than others. I expected to use the a/c in the hot weather, some figure its a reasonable trade-off for the HP to run hot, for 5K IMO its not.

As I posted early on this thread, pusher fans are a waste of time. I have not seen a C5 kit but if the air filter being in the shroud is what is preventing the stock fans from being used I would try to find a different place to put it, although I suspect if it was easy ATI would have done it...

I will be looking at different ways to fabricate a new shroud and Cold Air intake today. Looks like I will have to have a custom shroud/fan made for me.

Nate if you figure out something very soon let me know... I may pay you to make something for me too. I need to have all the problems resolved before the 9/20 Road Course Event..

Thanks, vetterdstr

I dont know whats wrong with the ATI setup. I am still trying to figure that out... I dont think it will be as dependable on a Road Course at hi speed on a hot day... This fan has to turn continually to keep the car cool. Fans are not meant to spin like that. I cant trust the fan to not break at sometime... :(

Hey Steve the brakes look pretty damn good too...I am really getting tired of these overheating S/C stories...I have not installed mine yet..but am wondering why cant you leave the stock fans in place and route the air filter under or in front of the shroud like where a TRIC or Vortech might go, but underneath????????

Shinobi'sZ, I wish we could use the stock fan setup..... But..... the S/C, Boost lines take up the space where the stock fans go... this is why they went with the thinner (more restrictive) shroud. :( Now it is up to us to fabricate something that actually works. :bs :cry :bs :cry

I went through the whole overheating thing with my 99SS and the powerdyne setup. I ended up installing a dual Shrouded Flex a lite fans as pushers. I also removed the black shroud infront of the condenser/radiator to get more air to them. This setup worked great, and the best part is the fan setup was pretty much a perfect fit onto the front of the condensor. One extra thing that helped was sealing the radiator to the condesor so the pusher fans were not wasting air. I forgot what the cfm of the shrouded fan setup was but it was greater than the puller fan so it did not cause any restriction.

I can look up the part# for the dual flexalite setup if anyone wants (I think it was the xx-220 fans $230). It was the best fix I was ever able to find for the powerdyne kit.

Default This is Absolute BS! ATI NEEDS to address this!

I was planning on the install at the end of the summer/early fall when I get an injection of funds...now, NO frigging way!

I did not spend 40+K originally and then spend another 7K to end up with a 50K pressure cooker!:mad

:mad Guys, I am terribly sorry to hear the overheating stories! That is not good long term on your block, rings, pistons....

Damn, ATI NEEDS TO MAKE THIS WORK!

ATI, wake up your Engineers! At least the ones who have had thermodynamics! :reddevil

When they actually admit they have a problem, I will have more respect for ATI, right now, they sold us all a bill goods that does not deliver as promised...HP is usually the opposite of heat! :(

I am going to order the higher volume BeCool 16" puller fan today. This Fan flows at 2340 CFM "Part #134-75001" as opposed to the 1950 CFM 16" fan that is supplied in the ATI Kit. It is a direct replacement. I will let you know how it works. Too bad this fan setup has to work 100% of the time just to cool the car... I am really looking to setup something different that will allow freeflow through the radiator with fans set to come on at specific temps. Also I want to re route the air intake to pickup Cold Air from either the backside of my open Z06 screens or inside the radiator shroud.

Pusher Fans mounted in front of a sealed AC Condenser sound like a good Idea to me... I will go that direction after the Be Cool Fan is installed. :)

This is pathetic that a company as large as ATI hasn't come up with a solution to this problem in all the time that this product has been out, especially with tuner shops calling in. Oh well, I was seriously considering this setup, guess Ill wait till theres a fix, or the new vortech comes out :cry

Steve,

I'm glad to see that you're ordering the BeCool fan. It made a big temperature difference for me. The only hard part was getting the old one out and the new one in. There's absolutely no room to maneuver, the scrapes on my hands and arms will attest to that. :cry

I plan on removing the shroud to replace the fan, this gives me a chance to change the oil in the S/C too. Hopefully I wont get too scraped up doing it. :)
