Default Top speed question.

So I have a 99 FRC 383 S/C putting down 750 RWHP with the rev limiter set at 7000. What would be my top speed? Would I get there in 5th gear or 6th? Tran is stock and rpm diff is stock gearing. With my power level would 6th gear be usable to top it out?

5th gear with a 3:42 rear at 7k rpm is almost 220mph. No reason to shift into 6th

6th gear is an overdrive gear. Your car will not redline in 6th gear.

For a MN6 with 3:42s its about 3mph per 100 rpm in 5th. Found a good chart for you, its a few posts down.

Even if you had the power it took to redline 6th....you'd just sheer that tiny gear right off.

at least 205 to 210 mph if all the parts hold together.7,k rpm for any amount of time you will be pushing it sooner or later.

Unless your running a 345/35/18 for instance where 6400rpm would put you around 202mph. 26" tire your gonna spin over 7k to hit 200mph in 5th. I wouldn't try going to 6th on a stock trans

checks. ops tested that myself 3-4 times

and what size rear tire are you running? from that, it's simple math to determine speed at a given RPM (though not accounting for tire swell due to heat & such)

It is 215 mph at 7k in 5th with the standard C5 or C6 trans, Not the C5 Z06 trans. That would be a little less speed. With the C6 trans, 3.42 gears and 345 30 19 tires I went 215mph at 7k rpm at the Texas Mile.

Default hey

hey physics dude,,,,i am running a 27.5" or 28" tall rear tire and may be making 875 rwhp....I am running the t 6060 tranny so I think the tranny could handle 6th gear....what do you think would be my top speed? what do you think would be the top speed of a twin turbo car making 1100 ish rear wheel? in the 240's or better...maybe 230 plus mph for 875 rear wheel? cool thread!! how much does weight factor in to this equation?
