F / I Lessons
as with anyone who owns a Corvette.. the mod-bug has got me sick and I am in search for more power
im definitely looking in to doing FI in the near future, i recently finished basically all my bolt on mods on my car.. right now my 98 coupe mn6 is pushing 396/386 with full exhaust stock Z heads/intake and a cam.
I have been thinkin a lot whether to sell the c5 and just get a newer c6, I'm still weighing out my option... although i already have my reasons why a c6 would be good, I would still like to see the possibilities on my 98 c5..
so if you guys can school me about FI and what I can do to make great gains without having to do major work., id like to reach 600 if at all possible on a ls1 ...

Was thinking of getting head work on my current 243s before summer.. Would I benefit from this with FI? Or should it leave the 243 stock
With a good tune at 600rwhp a really long time. Tranny a diff durability depends on the driver and conditions. Regular oil changes. A good tune.
I am in the mid/upper 600's on my last pull. I haven't pulled the heads off my LS6 yet.
Not to say their isn't gains by doing a really nice set of heads. Look at Al's Z06. Stock bottom end and it runs low 9's.

IMO if you're in the 600 RWHP ballpark on a stock engine, supporting mods are a waste of money for the most part.
Drop 6K on a supercharger, and you can make 550-600hp, so why spend an extra 1500 on headers to get you 40hp or whatever, when you can just make an extra pound of boost and get similar results? And do you really want 640 over 600 hp when your tires can't even hook at 600, and 640 just means your tranny is a little bit closer to biting the dust.
If you're going to start doing supporting mods, I would start with head studs and new head gaskets to help the engine handle the boost.
Also look at the DTE or ECS trans/diff brace. They're about $400, and easy to install if you're already putting in a new clutch, and will help your drivetrain survive the power better.

He has a 98 so he has a return setup. The pump that comes with the kit should be fine for 600rwhp. He could add a second 255 pump for cheap though if he is planning for more down the road.

I was told since my 98 is one of the older gen.. PCM upgrade should be done for ease of tuning?
