Default Turbos and Mufflers

My car is a TTi twin turbo 2000 still with the stock exhaust. I am in the market for a new cat back system. It is my understanding that turbos tend to quiet the exhaust note down a bit. I am leaning toward the 2.5" corsa extreme system. I don't want anything overly loud, but on the aggressive side on acceleration. Thanks for the input

The C5Z Ti exhaust sounds amazing with turbos

Borla Stingers are badass and a straight thru design for low backpressure. I traded my Ti's because they were too quiet for me. The guy I traded with thought his Borlas were too loud for his n/a cammed setup. Worked out good for both of us. Mine is still a turbo sleeper but rips at WOT.

Agreed, I put stingers on my TT C6 with no converters or anything and it sounded great. Not overly loud but loud enough to tell you meant business especially at WOT

The Ti's on my coupe are so quiet you barely even notice the cam. It does have a nice sound when the turbos spool, but its still quiet. Easy to cruise at 70 with no problems talking on phone too.

My rear turbo setup has no muffler (or cats for that matter), and while it certainly is loud, its not crazy loud. I've driven near a few N/A LSx cars which clearly had straight pipes and they were WAY louder than my car.

I would say a turbo with no muffler is pretty comparable to exhaust systems like the Borla Atak system which has mufflers, but are still loud.

Of course, it also depends on what engine/cam/heads you have too.

Whatever exhaust system you get, the turbos will quiet it down ~30% or so is my estimation.

No mufflers here either. Or cats. Never run either with turbos before on any of my vehicles and none were as loud as one would expect

I missed my bullets when I was NA and procharged(tt now). So we made my own "bullet" setup, using aluminum. I wouldn't call it quiet but....it does the job. Passes FIA regulations...somewhere probably.

So, whats the general thought on higher HP cars running twins with the stock Ti exhaust cans? How much is being given up restriction wise?

My car will be needing a new exhaust this winter. Car is an 2001 Lingenfelter TT with a ERL Superdeck 434 and Ls7 heads/intake. Upgraded turbos running at 12psi. RPM 4L80E/C6Z swap. Leaving off the foot brake car runs consistant 9.6X at 143 with a high 1.50's 60ft. Its a complete sleeper and the stock exhaust is nice and quiet. I'd like to keep it pretty quiet but I know the exhaust is holding it back a bit. (maybe not the mufflers, but the rest of it def is for sure.)
