Default Intercooler options for C5?

Hey guys,

Looking for opinions/options for a single large intercooler for a C5 when using a procharger (typical mounting to the passenger side head area)

I don't mind having to fab my own brackets, or minor fitment issues, but I'd really rather not have to build my own endtanks on the intercooler.

Is the A&A intercooler the only option available?

Treadstone makes good intercoolers is what i have with 16-18 pounds of boost and no issues

What power range are you guys in? Do you have any troubles with IAT's?

Has anyone had luck fitting the larger treadstone intercooler in the link below? My car is currently still together, so it's not that easy to get measurements.

The build is expected to be in the 1000rwhp range, with an F1R so I'm concerned about having an efficient enough intercooler.

I have the 1300 hp treadstone ic on my car and it seems to be working fine. I know I can improve the efficiency by adding some ducting to the bottom and sides of the intercooler area. Not sure on my power level cause haven't been on Dyno but I see iat's around 160 at the end of a 1/4 mile 150+ mph pull with ambient temps around 80-90*. I'm running a S480 single turbo setup.

Howdy sir, I'm the fella that bought your IW Balancer.

Do you have any pictures/measurements on the ECS setup? Does it compare in price to the Treadstone? or the A&A?

Same here get the one from Doug that is made in in US. Plus it is the biggest one that you can put in the c5 without cutting part of the frame out. Bret also had one made up from someplace but had to cut the insides of the frame rails out. That sucker is big..

yes that's where it enters I also have the front filler screen mod done to help. It exits off the d1 like any other setup I just had 3" aluminum pipe made instead of using couplers but it's the same as the a&a how it exist minus couplers.

The way I see it my car doesn't get much street action so I'm going air to water with a big tank for ice in the back for maximum results at the track...just need to find the right one to use. Then for regular street driving I'm sure I'll be fine with just using a 3 nozzle meth system m10+m15 pre intake and a m2 or 3 pre blower....

I thought about air-to-water, but in reality, I plan to drive the car more on the street than at the track. The simplicity of air-to-air intrigues me as well. Hopefully E85 gives me a bit of an advantage in terms of IAT

Is there still a significant benefit to meth when I'm already fueling the car with E85? I know there is with gasoline, but was under the impression that E85 makes a large difference on its own.

how much power are you wanting to make?... I have seen Bret's intercooler, I believe it is from dallas performance and that is one big sucker... I don't think they advertise much for our cars but they can make or fab up anything you need... the big ecs intercooler is also a well made unit, the only thing I don't like about it is the flange for the bov is on the driver side so the hot air from the blower can heat up the intercooler before it is vented and it might be a little more difficult to detect a leaking blower seal since the oil will be flowing into the intercooler before it exits the bov... that is just a small issue that can be fixed pretty easy and if you buy one new I'm sure they could make it without the flange... it also has a 3" inlet and 4" outlet which is nice and will support most builds... a&a also has a nice intercooler with some shielding on it to help airflow through it, I'm not sure on the inlet and outlet sizes on it though... I think the above 3 are probably the best out there for our cars and any of them would probably support the power just fine, just depends on your personal preference
