Inside and out they dip them makes a big difference
I'm been considering replacing my 1 7/8 kooks LT's with a set of kooks 2 inch primary LT's on my car coupled to a 3" catless x pipe and XS power 3" exhaust. I also considered having the headers coated. Were you able to measure the temperature
differences or is it something you notice by feel of the radiant heat when you open the hood?
I've always noticed a dramatic decrease in exhaust radiant heat in the cabin and engine bay with ceramic-coated exhaust compared to without. I only have anecdotal proof, though. The modified C6 Z06 exhaust setup I ran for a short time recently after swapping it in place of my coated headers was melting connectors and heat shielding that were otherwise unaffected before with the coated headers. This is another reason I'm swapping in the LG's - performance, sure, but I also want a coated exhaust in there to restore the reduced temps.

Never checked temperature difference but I can Chang the plugs on a hot motor at the track. Also stopped melting wires

Buddy if you go to the 2 inch headers dont use the kooks use the ARH headers a little more money but worth it. That is if you still have your motor in the car, I have to pull my full booster out on the drivers side to get them in. I also had the new version on them.
Yes the diffs on the headers is just the diff's in temp you feel when you put the hood up plus the diff on the inside also BIG DIFF. Robert
only complaint i have with my old lgs made by borla i believe is they come close to few spark plug wires in turn even with sleeves mess up my wires
are there any headers that dont come close to wires?
That stopped after I coated mine seems like the socks made mine cook more. I use the straight boots and bend them away from the tubes no more problems now.
Why do you wish your went with the 1 7/8" as opposed to the 2" headers?
I think it's a mental thing, like AC said about low end. Before the built 346 in my current C5 let go, it was a turd down low. Horsepower was in 800's but torque was 200 less. Big spread. My C6 with a 402 made 850/800, so when I mashed the gas, it went.
I know there are a lot of factors, mainly compression and cubes, but the car just felt slow on the street. It trapped 114 with 91 octane and no meth in full street trim in bad air, so with a 109 tune and a drag pack, 117-118 would have been doable, but it just wasn't fun on the street.
So I really don't have concrete evidence, but I'd say 1 7/8's are plenty for my power level. 800-900 area.
