Default PCV Systems

I am totally confused about the PCV system . My car is a twin turbo 2000 vette the PCV system is not connected. I have a breather filter on the oil fill hole. Read some where that if you hold your hand over the oil fill hole should be some small vacuum. Mine will build up pressure (I assume that is what the filter is for). I am trying to get the oder and the oil mist out with a oil hole adapter and a catch can set up. getting a small amount of oil mist. I guess is this normal for pressure to build up with my hand over the hole

I'm not sure what your exact question is, but here is my 2 cents.

I have run no PCV on all my FI cars and a few H/C/I cars, just change your oil @3k and you will be fine.

It is normal to have a slight build up of pressure there, just not so much that its blowing your hand off the cap.

You can buy a catch can setup and run that but remember that you WILL still get oil into the intake tract no matter what, I have never seen any catch can 100% remove the oil mist or do any magic thing and solve LS motor crankcase pressure issues.

The only true/proper way to evacuate crank case pressure on these motors and not dump oil into the intake is to run an expensive vacuum pump setup, for the rest of us, that leaves us with running PCV systems with catch cans or Open breather systems.

What YOU need to do is make sure that all the lines are correctly hooked back up and you have a fresh/clean air side and a dirty side, and most importantly that you're not introducing a vacuum leak with your setup.

You also MUST run a check valve on ANY line connected to the intake, throttle body, or intake tube. You are FI so every time you build boost if you do not run a check valve you are filling your crankcase with however much boost pressure you are running.

So to end,

The bottom diagram shows how to route your lines for a catch can, just remember to put check valves on any line connected to your intake tract.

One more thing, running 12+ psi FI you may run into an issue where the factory PCV lines and vent locations to not provide enough airflow, which in turn forces a lot of high boost LSX cars to run no PCV systems and just open breathers.

My current setup is 16.5 psi with -12an lines coming off each valve cover going into a moroso breather tank, all other ports are capped.

If you are just looking to remove the odor/engine bay you can use the links below to find products so you can remote mount a breather tank. All you need are the below items and some hose from your local parts store.

http://www.mtiracing.com/valve-cover...ter-to-10.html One of these
http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/854...rentProductId= One of these
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...rentProductId= Two of these

On these fittings all you do is unscrew the red part and use regular rubber hose in whatever size you need.

I've read a lot about the RX performance can, looks like a very well made product and seems to work very well, but for the same reasons I can't justify a 1200 dollar FAST intake, I can't justify a $550 dollar catch can.
