Default Nitrous install advice

Ok guys, I'm a newbie to nitrous on my own car. Have been in a buddies mustang and thunderbird with it a few times so have a basic understanding of what 150 shot is like working properly and when it is not. What I learned is that with out proper bottle pressure or air in the line it will studder hard.

Anyway on to my setup so far. 99 Coupe manual that is bone stock with Nitto 555 tires. Have a Zex 75 to 125 kit now half installed. Solenoid box and nozzle installed. Came off the Schrader valve on fuel rail for my fuel feed. That is where I left the project off. Going to order some more accessories this week, purge kit, bottle heater (not using a blow torch like my buddy), and blow down tube. Need to mount the bottle and run the line plus wires. Think I am going to mount it in the center rear compartment. Should fit and be hidden away plus can still store the top with out a problem. Run the blow down tube straight down between the mufflers. Sound like I am on the right track so far?

Some questions. What wire on the throttle body is the one I splice on to for WOT? I would still like to have it on a button but not sure how to set one up. Do I need to change plugs or worry about a tune for a 125 shot? Where do you guys have your purge line come out at? Should I also purchase a fuel pressure saftey shutoff? Read if I hit the stock Rev limiter it will shut off fuel?

Sorry for the long thread but want to get this setup for some use down at the track when it cools off a bit. Just want to be safe and not hurt the motor. Thanks for any help.

I'm not going to be able to answer all your questions, but here's my take.

Bottle in the well, no problem. Blow down tube like you suggested will work fine too. This is how I set up mine and the cover fit over it to hide it well.

The blue wire on the TPS is the 0-5v lead for the WOT signal. But your controller will need to be able to read that. I presume most do, but you didn't state which controller you're using. There is a white wire in a bundle behind the hatch/trunk release button that has the tach signal. Or pull it from the PCM.

I pulled 150 off the rail, like you're doing. I used TR6 plugs.

I ran the window switch at 3500-6500 with my stick car.

Good luck and have fun!

The blue wire on the TPS sensor is where you will need to get the WOT voltage. Also, for a tach wire, you can go to the passenger side main coil harness plug, and it's the 2nd wire from the left on the top row of wires (should be light blue). A fuel pressure safety switch won't keep the nitrous from spraying if you hit the rev limiter, it simply reads the pressure of the fuel system, which should be a near-constant. If the fuel pressure drops from some reason (i.e a pump goes out, too much drain on the fuel system if using too small of a pump, etc.) it will interrupt the circuit of the nitrous system, not allowing it to enable. As far as plugs, you need to use a non-projected tip plug that's preferably nickle or silver over copper. For the LS engines, the NGK BR7EF is as good as it can get as far as a nitrous plug for the amount you're wanting to spray. Even though a lot of people use TR6 plugs, they are projected and can facilitate detonation- which can either immediately or eventually kill your engine. If you have any questions about nitrous, just pm us or give us a call!

Thanks guys this will help. Have to work all weekend so no time to tinker but that will help pay for bottle heater and purge kit. Not sure what Zex controler it is but there is only 3 wires. Need to see if it has a rpm reading wire. Like the idea of it not spraying till 3500 rpm on the launch. Here is a pick of where I have the spray nozzle mounted. Seemed like a logical place for it after the mas airflow sensor. Nice flat spot like Chevy made it for a nozzle mount lol. This might take me a few weeks to get everything together but will post my progress.
