Likely going to a compressed air system in the trunk of the car instead of using a co2 system. The Co2 is probably a little easier, and cheaper(at first) but with the benefits of the never having to fill the bottle, and also the benefit of having an air compressor in the trunk to fill your tires back up, is kind of a plus. On that note, I have my eye on a couple of systems.

Not sure if any of you have done this (in a **corvette**) or if we have a vendor on HERE that sells something along these lines. The Holley instructional guy(local) has a pretty cool, yet basic pump in his personal car, however it is a hair large for me. Here is what I have found.

On the upper end of the spectrum: I like this since it is VERY compact...but that also means it will come on more often(smaller tank).

Only thing you would need to add, would be a regulator, and maybe a water separator. I know a BUNCH of you run Co2.... any of you rocking a compressor? How do you use the car if so, and how often does the pump activate based on YOUR use. Guessing I will put mine in the trunk, under the nitrous bottle and make a cover so I hear it as little as possible.

I would think that a CO2 tank would last quite a while wouldn't it? It doesn't take much volume to control the gates. This is something I was about to look into as well. C02 is likely the road I would take based on the simplicity alone.

 

It does last a bit. A 2lb bottle will probably be fine for a while.

Awesome, love the outside the box thinking. This is something i'd definitely consider doing. Fill up once a year, may be worth it not to hear a pump kick on. Thanks for sharing

 

7lb spring in wastegate, the boost leash set at 6 and 50psi on the regulator gets me 15lbs of boost.

 

What gates? Typically a diaphragm gate(TiAL MVR) doesn't like a whole bunch of pressure(blows out diaphragm). Few guys I know run 50psi and no more on those,...and something with a piston type(JGS) they run whatever they want. At the 50psi pressure, ever have any issues with hurting one?

 

Tial 44mm. MVR.. I haven't had any issues yet but I've only had the set up together since June. I never really played with any of the numbers once I got it set. I am not sure if I could put higher a value in the boost controller (higher than 6) and lower the pressure on the regulator.

 

How do you have yours plumbed?

 

Bottle in the trunk and -4 line to the controller c02 supply side of the solenoid which is mounted under the hood just in front of the coolant overflow tank

I ordered the tank....showed up today, or was supposed to...ended up being the wrong order, so instead I got a beer filter setup. Emailed them...they're two daying it to me now and sending me a label for the return. So, slight delay but....it is what it is.

 

Give it hell. I'm about done for the year and I've got enough C02 left for another 2 years.

1/2 the time I don't even turn it on. I've been able to handle everything that's pulled next to me without the C02 and on the W/G spring pressure.

 

Nice. figured as much. I figure my car will work pretty well on gate pressure alone, cause it always has. The game here(south fla) has changed quite a bit so I am gonna probably need all the help I can get to get this thing moving as quick as possible. The C02/gate control will be a new thing for me on my personal car, that's for sure.
