Default Solid rear?

short and sweet. I'm sick of messing with the IRS and don't want to put anymore into the setup to still have to mess with torque tube etc. What are you guys doing to go solid rear and can you fit a four link setup?

Moser makes a bolt in solid rear. I think Carroll's rod and Racecraft does too.

Any competent race shop should be able to build you a 4-link setup.

Remember, once you move the trans to the front, you'll have to redo the trans tunnel to make it fit. And where are you planning to send the exhaust?

Mosier's setup is about $8-9k depending on options.

I can build my own IRS 9" for that money and won't need to modify the tunnel or worry about the exhaust.

Good luck with your goals.

What 9" IRS rear are you going to use and what transmission would be bolted to it? You would still be stuck with the toe issues on launch unless upgrading to solid bearings in the suspension components.

Also, there is still the issue of needing to drop the entire driveline to service the transmission and converter or transmission and clutch.

RPM, GForce, and Dutchman all make IRS 9" housings.

Take your pick. Delrin bushings in the control arms.

Find a local machine shop to fab up a couple parts. Not too difficult. I have a TH400, but it could be made to fit any transmission provided you can get someone to make the appropriate output shaft.

Personally, I like this setup.

This will still be an issue, but one I can deal with.

9" IRS also needs drag spindles for 15" wheels, 15" tires and wheels, solid bushings, coil-over rear shocks, DSS or equal heavy duty axles and hubs, axle safety loops, etc. RPM's 9" diff is $7500 alone.

There is no question that RPM has the most thought out/proven designed IRS setup for the Corvette, but, no one is forced to buy from RPM.

No one is forced to install the drag spindles.

No one is forced to buy coil over shocks for an IRS setup. Although, you likely would if you install a solid axle.

Just sayin' there are other options out there for the OP.

Exhaust isn't issue. Turbo and dumped out the front bumper. I appreciate the response but I'm really kinda just over taking everything in and out cause one part. Yes I could build s notch etc. I already have the car and paid for and they look so much better. Stick car for now but plan on pretty much going "racecar" I mean street car lol. Biggest issue I have with 9" IRS is to still get a decent auto on it is stupid expensive and if something goes wrong then it's just that much more. If a 12 bolt or 9 messes up it's gonna be a lot more reasonable or a PG.

Yeh, sounds like a solid rear conversion is in your future.

Once you start down that road, please start a build thread. There are several similar threads on here, but the OPs never seem to finish the build. Or, if they do, they never post up the completed deal.

I am looking to go down this road myself....I am looking at the Chris Alston's Chassisworks Battlecruiser 4 link. Well optioned with coil overs it comes out to around $1500. A good 9" is gonna run about $2500. In a month or so I will have mine in the shop and going to go over how we might do the install with our fabricator. Be a good project for next winter I think. I am looking at either a TH400 or 4L80 up front, depending on how much I have to widen the tunnel to fit the 4L80....I think it will be significant though....

I too have no real desire to drop $15k to keep IRS and swap to an auto trans. Economically it just does not make sense.

Sounds pretty similar to a Facebook post from last week I was posting in lol. I'll be looking into doing something similar this winter with that same CA kit, but don't plant to give up the 6spd even if it's not as fast.

I have been talking to our fabricators and I am pretty much decided on going with the Chris Alston's Chassisworks chromoly Battlecruiser 4 link.

Still researching the diff, and am looking for a good chassis guy to discuss the coil overs with. We are calling around to see who has an empty TH400 and 4L80 we can use to see how well each will fit and how much modification will be required for each. I expect to start buying parts this fall.
