Default Another cooling question

You guys running an intercooler have any issues with the Dewitt's direct fit radiator with distance between the two radiator and intercooler ? Also has anyone tried some sort of air dam to force air up between intercooler and the radiator.
Thanks in advance

Just about every kit mounts the intercooler differently but if it is a direct fit radiator and you are using a blower/turbo kit designed for a C5 then I would assume you are fine.

C5s are bottom breathers from the factory and the A&A and ECS kits both have an air dam included to push air up onto the radiator.

Default Cooling

I have tried everything to keep my 2002 Z06 cool! New dewitt radiator, twin fans, override for secondary fan, scoops beneath the radiator, 160 thermostat, put hoodscoops into the hood to let excess heat thru the top, put two extra aux coolers down by the disc brake ducts, still runs hot. Am about ready to pull the rest of my hair out?? Of course it is an LSX 427 with F1X pro charger making over 1000 RWHP! Cant use the AC in traffic! So much for a daily driver?

No issue with the full size Dewitt's and the ECS kit.

Cutting out the license plate plastic and the TracSpec hood vent helped reduce my engine temps. I'd say 10-12* easy.

Following this thread. I'm also interested in the cooling mods you guys have done, as I am making 4 digits and currently have no radiator/intercooler top plate, air dam, or anything like that.

These cars just run hot. Lots of good tricks posted in here andthe search forums. My A&A YSI then back to a smaller ECS 1500 on my C6 with an aluminum block would always run 210 cruising without the AC in the Texas Summer.

My C5 I recently sold with a hotter Iron block with the old ECS intercooler and dual spawl fans, functional carbon fiber cowl hood, and both the Novi 2500 and then 2000 never overheated. Ran 190's on the freeway, and 210-220's in Houston traffic with AC, where my C6 would run 230-240 in traffic with the AC on.

It's almost like a hit or miss. Sure my C5 had everything done to keep it cool, but a much bigger blower, older design intercooler, and an iron block, but I'm surprised it ran cooler than an aluminum block, small blower C6.

Wish I had more help. Good luck.

Why are none of you guys running a top shroud? Without a top shroud, air is not "forced" through the radiator. It can just bypass over the top of the radiator.

I built my own out of aluminum sheet from lowes/home depot. Its not perfect, but im not overheating either.

Can you or are you E85? E85 in it self will help cooling a lot. Also try running water and water wetter. That will help a lot as well.

On my setups, I've found the opposite in the summer in Houston. Just more puzzling to me. I've seen hundreds of setups , some almost identical. Motor, blower, pulley, fuel, tuner and some just run hotter.

my 900whp LSX iron block procharged setup runs very cool. like 180s coolant when cruising and oil maybe 200-210* if driving it harder.

ECS intercooler, dewitts radiator, dewitts brushless 17" fan. no oil cooler. trackspec hood vents.

I think a lot of it comes down to just building custom ducting to force all the air in there, and I notched my front bumper frame rail for more air, built sheet metal plates for the sides in front, and the trackspec hood vents helped a lot for when moving too. etc

if you search on here you'll find lots of people have solved this heating issue so there are known solutions.
