Default Cooling😒

Currently the air dam is in the stock position and its directly under the intercooler. Has anyone moved it back to under the radiator to force the air up between radiator and intercooler. As it is it seems it is almost blocking the air. If you have moved the air dam did it help? Thanks

I'm curious what intercooler you have and if your radiator is still in the factory location?

You have a few options:

1. Move the intercooler as mentioned.

2. You could move the air dam forward to where it is even with the face of the intercooler and force air through the intercooler and radiator.

3. If there is room, you could move the air dam back to where it is even with the front face of the radiator and force air only through the radiator.

It would be nice to see some pictures and dimensions of your current arrangement. Other things can have an influence. Angle of the radiator, the gap between the intercooler and radiator, etc. There is an optimum air gap that needs to exist between the two or the air won't really follow the proper path.

How open is your front bumper cover? Is this a base model or C5Z and have you opened up the front license plate cover? Are the fins on the radiator clean?

Lots of possibilities to correct the situation...

[i have the turbo technology kit. The intercooler is as far forward as it will go. My guess is there is 6-8" between radiator and intercooler. What don't make since to me is where the air dam is. Looks like it should be more under the radiator. I have done the license plate mod

The TTiX kit is designed for the air dam to be even with the intercooler. This is where it was located on my car and there were zero issues as long as both fans were working. Are you having cooling issues?

What fans are you using, what radiator, thermostat, have the fan settings been changed, etc.?

Fans and radiator are both stock. Fans come on at 160* also have a 160* thermostat installed. I have been kicking around going to a Dewitt's radiator and spal fan set up. Being on a budget not sure which to buy first fans or radiator. Car runs between 214 and 220* which seems hot to me. Thanks for the response

Have you verified that both fans are turning on and the external radiator fins aren't covered with road debris? All sorts of items get trapped in front of the radiator. Pebbles, grass, plastic bags, Hellcats, Mustangs, etc.

In my opinion, 160 is way too early to have the fans turn on. You will never achieve 160 and it leads to both fans being on all the time which in turn causes the fan relay to fail and then one or both fans doesn't turn on and you start seeing temperatures creeping into the 220s.

Does it do 215-220 while driving > 30 mph or while sitting still? It's 100F+ here and I see 210ish while driving if I'm giving it a bit of gas, ~205 idling it in my driveway after 30 mins of driving, probably 200-205 cruising in 6th

I will check the fans and radiator for debris very soon. Good points. I think the fans come on at 160 maybe higher can't remember that one maybe 180*. On the highway at 70mph hits 214 to 220*. At 30 may be around 205 to 208.

if the airdam is below the cooler, some air will escape downwards after the cooler. so i closed off that space to force it through the rad.

btw, get rid of the original flapper and bolt a piece of 6/8 mm rubber to the rad subframe, about 1-2" above ground, depending on how your driveway is.
