I agree. The turbos can now be in place and mounted before the engine gets installed. I've also positioned the flanges in the engine compartment where I could convert the car to N/A if needed and route the exhaust out the back. Jon said it was a good idea but we should never discuss making the car N/A ever again.
For sure. I'm on a T/A at the moment.

The engine is at the machine shop and they have started on the final hone for the cylinders. Camshaft and head gaskets were purchased on Monday along with the 1-7/8" pipe needed for the inlet to the wastegates. The last of the 321 SS piping and the aluminum piping plus van-jen clamps should arrive today.

I went back out to the garage on Tuesday night and made some adjustments to weld the v-band flange on the manifold. Due to the way the piping is angled off the manifold to dodge the frame rail and the way the turbo was angled on the other side it was inevitable that some type of piping offset would be required. Wednesday night the angle was determined and I had just enough material left to cut it out of a left over elbow. Last night I was successful in making it all fit up.

What size stainless is that Ben? I have some 2.5" stainless straight pieces if you need some extra.

Thanks. It's 2.5" OD 321 SS. I had just enough material to get it done and still have a couple of short straights that were drops. I'm glad to say that the hot side is now done except for final welding and locating the gates. I'll probably start working on that this week or the weekend.

The rest of the materials for the charge piping showed up on Friday, so it was time to get creative.

The 1st order of business was to drill some 76mm holes in the top of a brand new intercooler.

Then cut a couple of short 3" pieces so they would be plumb and weld on the van-jen flanges.

With these two outlets located on the intercooler, I began experimenting with piping angles and fitment.

Pipe spacing needed to be established so I went ahead and built a merge to use as a template. I was going to need it anyway, so why not build it.
I used an old table saw that I inherited from my grandfather to make the cuts nice and square.

By Sunday evening, things were beginning to take shape.

That looks great!!

Is there any reason, aside from aesthetics, that you went with a 2-1 there instead of just one large pipe?

Good question. The intercooler outlet was already a 4" opening. I have the full Dewitts radiator and fan setup and knew that a 4" pipe wouldn't fit without dropping the radiator. My car is already fairly low so I didn't feel that dropping the radiator support was an option.

Cutting the hood wasn't an option for me.

A cut down radiator would have worked but then I would need to purchase the fan shroud to go with it and maybe the fans? Also there was the time I would be waiting for it to show up.

Another option was to go with some oval to round transitions, but I saw that as adding time to the build while waiting for a company to send me what I needed.

I saw the 2-1 as a solution that would be visually appealing and get the BOV out of the way. It also gave me the opportunity to fabricate a merge for the 1st time and use the van-jens.

Sorry for the long explanation. There were lots of ways this could have been accomplished but after last night, I like the way it's shaping up.

Here's where things stand after last night

I screwed up and couldn't get the pipes together without doing pie cuts which given the tools available takes a little longer. I wish I could have planned ahead and made the adjustments in the cut ahead of time but at this point it was too late.

So time to make some pie

It turned out delicious.

I don’t think so, his last build thread started in 2014.
