why not go back to a cable? I think the 102 indeed isn't needed but I'm curious how much hassle it would be to just run an old school manual 102

I have one of the sniper style intakes that has one and I'm curious to try it out!

Would it be possible to delete the functions that the computer controls??

Leave the old one into glovebox with long wires... :-)

Or change to a cable PCM (or flash cable tune in it, if it works that way).

Cable is fine but you lose the ability for the ecu to change the throttle position for traction or stability control. Might be a big con to some.

with really high hp the factory traction control is more harm than good IIMHO

I'll stick with my foot and a nice direct connection that I'm in control of

I do agree though that the drive by wire with a really GOOD traction control would be the way to go.

I'm disappointed that the 102 stepper motor can't keep up.

Very easy with -99.

With 97...98 you need rewiring.

I think newer C5's have better traction control and/or active handling, but I've never used it with higher hp than stock, nor tried to tune it.

Default NW throttle body

Don't even bother with the Nick Williams boosted throttle body! I went thru the same thing with mine. I have an LSX 427 with an F1X and tried the Nick Williams boosted throttle body and it did NOT help. I had to go with the stock LS 3 throttle body. That finally fixed my Reduced engine power issue. I wasted 750.00$ on Nick Williams the throttle body.

I wonder if it has something to do with the C5 PCM. My buddy has a standard NW on his C6 Z06 and has been flawless with his F1X setup.

As a cause of REP, or from a controlling action from REP ?

As for needing 102mm...

As an example, this car runs high 6's at 200+ with a stock 90mm TB ( painted black, if that matters )

The forced air (boost) is physically forcing closed the tb blade with in turn causes REP by setting a fault code.

Never debated about what size tb is "needed" to achieve a particular power level. The NW 102mm is a popular part used by many so I'm simply sharing info.

I will say that the guys at Brian Tooley Racing told me this morning that the people using the new "boosted" NW tb or that have switched to it seem to be having success with it so far.
Like I said, I have a stock ported LS2 90mm in the shop but since I already had a 102mm from before and I'm doing this switch on a trade, I want to see if the new one will work. Also doing it to share any info I find along the way.

Thank you already.

This is what this forum is all about. Or should be.

Here is my experience with this issue and an LS2 throttle body. The only thing that solved it for me was flipping it to where the blade moved in the same direction as the stock LS1 throttle body. I apologize for the missing pictures but I haven't had the time to fix the photobucket debacle.

Good info, thanks. This is something I may look into. See which way the NW tb opens and maybe flip it around to test.
