I've got an STS kit making around 500whp on my 03Z06, I recently did a hard street pull and have been dealing with issues since. First was the harmonic balancer coming loose, and I was throwing a code... I pinned the balancer and have just troubleshot the p0343 code to most likely being the cam bolts coming loose as well.

It seems GM was cheap and lazy when building these cars, what else did they skimp on? I am going to do a cam, timing chain and appropriate valvetrane updates while I have it apart this time, what else should I be checking on?

Thanks
Bill

Oil pump for sure. If you haven't already then I would install a catch can to help vent crankcase pressure.

Thanks, an oil pump is definitely on the list, I'm thinking I may have a shop do the cam install, has anyone had any positive experience with Backstreet performance in Medina, Ohio?

Those two items are known issues.

Valve springs may may not be a bad idea. Cam is actually fairly easy to do on these cars. Just a little time consuming. Can knock out all those items while doing the one job .

Cam
springs
oil pump

done.

a mighty mouse catch can is always a good idea. I'm surprised not making >500whp though?
