Default Tire help!

I'm looking to purchase new rubber for my vette that's putting down about 700 rwhp. I want a drag radial that will get more street traction than track use. Was wondering what others have had success with. Not street racing, just looking for more grip in first-third. I'm using the factory style 18"s. I would like to stay close to the factory tire size, if possible. Thanks in advance

I ran a set of 305/35/18 M/T drag radials that worked awesome at 600 RWHP. I’d try them at 700...

Do you have any pics of them on the car? Did they bulge out and look funny at that size...was that on a stock 9.5" wheel? Thanks for the response.

et street s/s is what I would use for a street tire if you are more concerned about traction and not as much about life and handling... the nt05r is also a good choice at that power level... it still gets pretty good traction (not as good as the s/s) but it does handle better and will usually last a bit longer depending on your driving style... I have used both but I like the s/s more personally

305/35/19... I have considered downsizing my rear wheels to 18s and running the 305/40 s/s

3054018 is a 28" tire and probably to tall for him really. There is a 305 35 18 and that is what I have run in the past. I had good luck with it when I was on the 200 shot and making 735 rwtq.

With the new setup I am going to try the 325 35 18 ET street R. Its slightly taller and wider and than the 305 35. The R is supposed to be more grip than the street SS. We will see how it goes.

The 305 and 325 aren't too wide on the 9.5 inch rim without sticking out too far or rubbing?

Best I can do is a picture of a picture. Factory 9.5” wheel. That’s how it use to leave off the foot brake at 3400 rpms.

I ran the Toyo Proxes TQ 315/35r18 on the rear for over 10,000 miles in my car. I recently switched to a 305/35r18 R888 in the rears and I am happier with the R888s. I feel like for most street driving unless you are doing lots of pulls and getting the tires hot, the traction just isnt really there. Im getting a lot better traction out of the R888 than I was the drag radials. This is based on just doing random pulls here and there on the street and not on any Mexican sanctioned racing. I have about 700RWHP on a turbo setup

I appreciate all of the input, I think I'm gonna go with The mt et street s/s...they're decent priced and readily available, sounds like they really hook and are decent on the street also.

Do these fit on the stock c5 five spoke wheels (not z06)? Do they stick out from the rim? Any rubbing issues? Got pics?

Unsure about the stock c5 rim, as they are on zo6 rims. I have the car lowered about an inch and they have not rubbed yet. No, they do not stick out.

This is GOOD advice, if you still like to go around corners sometimes, then I'd go with the R888s I've been running them on all my Vettes for a while now, they really do hook up well, even on my 800+RWHP C5!!

Has anyone tried and had any luck with 305 35 18 NITTO NT05R DRAG RADIAL? I got a line on a couple of those and was wondering if they are worth the money.

I have used the nt05r and it is a good tire for 700rwhp... it is a good middle ground for traction, handling, and tread life... they are also typically cheaper, in my case about $100 less per tire

those are the worst drag radial as far as traction goes in my opinion but will probably last the longest... I used them on my trans am a long time ago and wasn't really happy with them
