A 408 stroker with a 250-300hp shot of nitrous has me anxious. What is the latest news on the car?? You know you're obligated to keeping your Vette brothers(and sisters ;) ) informed......Dont you! :smash:
Jayson @ MTI already has all the parts needed for the motor :D:D:D They will be putting everything together over the next week or two.
I'm still don't know how I want to do my second fuel system for the nitrous yet. I'm trying to decide whether to put a separate fuel cell in the rear, or move the battery to the back and put the fuel cell there.
what hp and tq are you expecting to make? What are you gonna shoot for in the 1/4 and top end?
The motor should makes around 480-490rwhp/tq range. I'm not very big into drag racing and just refuse to put ET street or slick tires on my car. So I'll be happy with low 11's on street tire.
If I wanted a 1/4 mile track car, I would have gone with the 422 aluminum block stroker /w 150shot and solid roller. My intention with this 408 iron block /w gas is to compete with a few single turbo Supras around here in Houston. In a year or two, when they have a solid single turbo kit for the C5 (around the $6-7K range), I will tear this motor down to drop the compression and get it rebuilt for boost application.
What cam are you going to use in your 408!??? Trying to descide on a cam for mine. You go solid or Hydro?
It will be hydraulic roller with the MTI R1 cam 232 237 .560 .560 114. Remember, this will be my daily driver so I definitely do not want it to idle like a dragster. I can always swap out the cam down the road when I want to get another car for the daily driver.
Move the battery.... and place a 1 gal fuel cell. I came up with this idea 3 months ago. I would love to see it in action.
With this route, I'm concern about the safety of having a fuel cell right next to the motor. It would be really nasty if the car gets into some type of accidents on the front.   I hope my insurance agent doesn't surf this forum.
