3inch exhaust which sounds best(options)? ALso 2.5 vs 3 !
Im running 1 7/8 ARH headers into 2.5 Corsa sports. The exhaust is raspy and Im starting to not like it. Its almost like a buzzsaw. Corsa sounds great with cats but not so much with out I think. They do not drone thought which is nice. What are some good options for 3 inch exhaust?
Would I gain anything at my power level(800) going from 2.5 to 3inch?

I think the only bolt on options for 3" are the Huron Speed 3" muffler-less and the LG Big 3" catback.
You may gain a bit but probably not much. There are guys making that much and more through the OEM titanium ZO6 catback.

Mostly crossed my mind due to the corsa being a little raspy. I might look into some resonators and try that.
I dont want the drone that other systems give you though. I have tuned way to many vettes with other systems and that drone would drive me nuts.

I had a horrible drone in my 3" exhaust daily driven Subaru STI hatchback that already had a 18" resonator and large canister muffler out back. I welded in a vibrant race bullet muffler and it actually took a lot of the drone out of the car.

that's why i ran cutouts right before my B&Bs - loud when i want to fart around but quiet and drone-free when i don't.
and it was cheaper than buying another catback.

kooks makes a 3" system as well but it's ridiculous $$$$

I've got a turbo car and I'm going to graft the champion 3" downpipes into a c6 z06 exhaust and trim the package tray. I also have pair of flapper tips I might try to get a nice quiet crooze and tame down the resonance

I am running the Kooks setup. I like it. I had the Corsa sport before that. Bought my kit used so it didn't hurt the wallet too much after I sold the Corsa. I think it sounds really good. The Corsa sounded sharper. It was angry under heavy load. I liked the sound but wanted a full 3in setup. The Kooks has a more mellow sound but wakes up under wot too. I feel like the drone is no worse, and maybe a little less, then the Corsa. For a weekend car, i like the sound. If I had to spend more time in the car, I would be running the stock ti setup hands down.

Id love to try the 3 inch kooks but its hard to swallow a 1.7k gamble if I dont like it. Id like to do back to back dyno runs if I do do it.
I think Im the only person who is not a fan of the stock TI

Nope, you aren't the only one. I hate with a passion the wimpy, too-quiet sound of the stock titanium exhaust. When I bought my supercharged C5, I ripped those off my car and bought the Borla S-Type II. They sound more "V-8" than the titanium, but still quiet enough that I can hear the stock Bose stereo at speed on the Interstate. I was able to sell the titanium exhaust to a local Corvette owner whose wife insisted he replace his aftermarket exhaust with quiet exhaust.

I had a custom made 3" system using Borla XS mufflers. I will give you the deep sound you are looking for.

that setup looks nice, how much did that cost you?

nice work! On a na car, a 2.5 should be close to enough. On big blower cars 1k or especially turbo cars, getting a low restriction exhaust is worth big power and takes load off the engine reducing pumping loss from excessive back pressure. I don't like the c5 noodle loop design and with just bit of trimming of the package tray you can go straight through like the c6 and leverage the much cheaper parts
I have an old buddy Robert F. who does beautiful 3" stainless mandrel bent stuff.
The OBX c6 3" midpipe is dirt cheap. 1700 for an axle back is not in my budget and I think they are a bit too proud of those pipes IMHO.
I'll post up some pics Robert is still in biz last time I checked. I've had him bend up both 2.5 and 3" custom exhausts and he uses top quality stuff and does great work.
