Default Haltech users, got a question

Bought a setup from Brett. Im pretty excited about it. Not really nervous about the install but I think as each day goes by I get more nervous about the tuning and all the features. I have zero tuning experience. I know Bret is really helpful and I've already had a few conversations with him. I haven't received it yet, just wondering how everyone's experience has been tuning? Have you done it before?

with what brent will deliver he will not only tune the car, but walk you through the haltech user interface and tuning capabilities which are substantial
tuning is a pretty big learning curve and the haltech is a solid system best left to brent to guide you

Maybe i bit off more than I can chew lol. Just occurred this morning like how much meth am i supposed to spray now that I've added another nozzle lol. Stuff that I'm used to just leaving for my tuner. Everyday I'll probably find one more thing to worry me.

Spray all the meth!!! Just relax, it's definitely overwhelming but don't overthink any of it until you really get to that point in the process. When you take it step by step its not so bad.

I bought a Haltech from Bret, he will go above and beyond to help you install it and tune. It is a steep learning curve and the wiring can be scary to look at. Take it step by step. Once you have it wired in, Bret will remotely log into the Haltech via your laptop and set up all the perimeters.

There is so many advantages of a aftermarket ECU. Better fuel control, better spark control, real traction control, boost by gear if turbo, flex fuel for car that does not have it from the factory. So many things can be done depending on how wild you want to go. These are just broad topics of what it can do.

key advantages are the speed of the processing and the ability to individually monitor and react to the sensors. for example with a dual wb, the car trims the fuel at top end, or if it goes lean, you can command the boost to dump and chop spark to save the engine if a hole (injector or plug) goes bad

with the 8 channel egt, you can individually adjust the fuel to each cyl to "give it what it wants" to balance out the AF based on manifold and flow variations inherent in the engine

the boost by speed and traction control are the bomb. you can tune both by monitoring wheel spin and ramp your torq curve up to better put down the power on the street. Once you get to "big torq" the factory traction control is useless as it's "beyond what it can do" managing big power. So with the new traction and boost control with the electronic throttle, you can pull timing, adjust throttle, or pull some boost (boost by speed) to help the car better put down the power

another big benefit of this is making steam upstairs in the rpm range to avoid bending rods from too much cyl pressure down low

the ability to still drive the factory gauges is cool and you can also use the fancy panel style haltech stuff which is nice too

you can pass emissions as all the factory sensors are intact and reporting "ok" through the aldl port data stream (LOTS of folks worry over this)

last but not least Brent and Eric are the best. They know they system very well, and will get you "stood up" and running on the Haltech with a solid base tune that won't hurt the car and introduce a world of capabilities over the factory stuff

don't get me wrong, you can do alot with Hp tuners, but not this.
