Default C5 Vortech Dyno Results?

Plz post your #'s!
Also, plz note your Pulley Cog Size (28,30,32,34) if you are running an S-Trim (LS1) or SC-Trim (LS6) and your measured boost levels at the gauge.

Thanks!
Will help me & others decide on a 30 Tooth vs. a 28 Tooth.

I know...I know... :D I wanted to go this past Saturday but Andy strongly suggested I wait until I get the RaceTronix fuel pump instead of the booster I have now...I hope to get it in this weekend. I can't stand not having a dyno!

I'm still on the fence with the 28 Tooth pulley also. Still trying to get the drivetrain back together 1st.

Any chance for a 30 Tooth dyno run this weekend?
7lbs on the dial with ported heads, eh?

Sorry....no dyno :( spent the day with Andy. we think my belt might be slipping. making too much noise. So he is going to order a 28 tooth for me AND we are going to change the tensioner (sp?). The current one is spring loaded and we are going to install one that is fixed.

I am also going to have him do the 3.90 while he is at it....

Not sure if the belt is the cause but I am maxing out at 5lbs right now. I raced a Viper this morning and he hung with me. :cry I was dissapointed. Then on my way to Andy's I got to race a brand new Ferrari 360 Modena. Got my butt handed to me! :cuss I should be faster than a 360 right? :skep:

andy was laughing at me cuz when I pulled up and got out my gas pedal fell off. He thinks i mash it too much! :auto:

For some comparison - I used to beat older generation Vipers at 324 rwhp - now with 380 rwhp I will put a few cars on a Modena N/A and about 10-12 car lengths with the nitrous engaged......I'd be pissed if I lost those races too!

yea..the viper really shocked me...I should be over 500+ RWHP....The modena is no slouch though 400HP @ 8500 RPM and is all aluminum so probably lighter than our cars

carrerarod- With your mods you should walk all over a Gen 1 Viper and a Modena. Obviously, something's seriously wrong there.

The Modena has superior gears vs. a C5 MN6 with a 3.42
You should be seeing more than 5lbs.

I am planning to run a Goodyear Gatorback 104.5" belt. I am not going to use the supplied Gates standard belt. If the Gatorback doesn't work out I'll switch to a Gates Green belt.

The 3.90's will let you take the Modena no problem. I'm interested in your results with the tensioner. The ATI Prochargers didn't work well with the Katech style, but maybe the Vortech is different.

Did Andy measure the belt tension? I need to insist my mechanic does that. You could have a hose leak somewhere?

Also, FWIW another LS1 S-Trim kit with a 30 Tooth cog and your mods just put down a bit over 550rwhp. I'm not free to post the results, but the numbers sounded great.

I don't know if Andy measured the tension or not. I did not ask. I just trust that Andy will take care of me.

The belt makes a noise sometimes. Not always. If I put it under heavy load, it will "squeal" a bit after I come to a stop. Then it will go away sometimes for hours or even days before it re-appears. He decided not to mess around and just changed the belt and I asked him about doing the 28 tooth. He thinks I could 1-2 extra lbs of boost. Since he's in there and the pulley is cheap....why not?

I had planned on doing the 3.90's anyways so my little cat & mouse with the Ferrari is just making me do it sooner! :steering:

don't mean to imply my car is slow, re-readin my last posts I can see how I could've been complaining....the car will still scare most passengers....and will squeal the tires through at least 2nd if you mash it....

Like Andy told me yesterday "I knew you were crazy but not insane!"...I think I just got used to the extra juice very quickly.... :auto:

What were the conditions for each race vs the Viper and the 360?
From a stop? From a roll? Stop light vs. Hwy? Starting speed?
What brand tires are you running?

Just installed TPIS headers. SOTP is excellent. I plan on having Mike at MMS do a final HP and program hopefully this week. I have not posted lately due to a problem logging in. My numbers before the headers were 477 HP 410 TQ. I am running the 30 tooth C5 pulley. I will run EFI live when I get back form the car show later today to see what everything looks like.

Thx for the info!
Look forward to your headers and PCM tuning reults.
How much measured boost are you seeing?

Between 8 or 9 lbs (prior to headers), it gets harder to watch the gauges as the HP and speed rises. Mike at MMS said he got up to 10 lbs on the dyno but I have not seen that much. Since I put the headers on, finished today, I have 7 lbs. I started out with the ZO6 34 tooth pulley as I purchased that kit. The change in the pulley from 34 to 30 increased the lower RPM boost and brought the power on sooner. I would like to try the 28-tooth pulley if my boost is 7 or 8 after headers. I have already added a Vortech booster pump and a MSD boost sensitive voltage device (like the Kenny Bell) to address fuel. I also relocated my IAT sender to the aftercooler outlet (no higher the 94 degrees so far). I did a couple of runs tonight using the Auto Tap EFI Live program. I logged several high RPM and boost runs and on one had 2 degree pulled out for knock. The other runs no timing was pulled but I could hear a slight amount of detonation for a second or two as I would go into wide wide open loop. I will take the data to Mike for him to take a look this week.

Great info on the IAT temps. So with our kit all Vortechs have an IAT sensor after the aftercooler? That's awesome! Did you monitor the outside air temp also?

I think you may have the SC-Trim. Has slightly lower mid-range boost so the Z06 heads don't detonate at peak TQ. Andy at A&A has more experience with the SC-Trim.

Sounding really good. Any timing changes so far or are you running the stock program at the moment? Wondering how much timing I'll end up running myself also.

How do you like the 3.90's?
You should be over 500rwhp soon maybe 525rwhp with the 30 tooth and tuning. That's awesome for an Auto!

The Vortech kit leaves the IAT temp up in the MAF so it does not see the actual temp after the SC and cooler. I did not read outside temp but it was evening and around 60.

I am not sure about the trims but did notice the parts list for the LS1 vs. LS6 has the same SC part numbers but has different pulleys.

The timing changes were done by Mike at MMS along with the A/F ratios. I can probably read them as soon as I get more familiar with the EFI Live program.

The 390s are great, nice to be able to jump any time, the gears seem to get me up to boost quicker.
