Holley EFI Install
The Terminator fits great here but the problem now is the hole in the dash. So I started modeling a mount for the ECU that will incorporate mounts/latches to retain the factory dash panel "corvette" insert. This will use push to open latches to hold it in place and if access to the ECU is needed, then simply push the panel and the latches will undo (same concept as the magnet latches on a stereo system glass door).
Here are a couple screen shots of the mount so far. I will make the plate out of 1/8" aluminum, along with the brackets for the latches.
The next hurdle would be where to pass the harness through the firewall. Obviously many have used the factory large grommet on the lower passenger side. I just did not want to open it up more to shove more through it. I was informed about the aluminum billet pass through piece that sharpe performance sells.. It is a very nice piece as shown below... Now, where to put it?
My thought was to mount it high above the factory grommet location which would be into the wiper cowl, and then it would have to pass through the outside cowl into the engine bay where I would use the sharpe passthrough. I got the piece and thought more on it, realized that the factory harness fuse block insert and the other odd connectors on that trunk would fit through the sharpe piece just fine. So I removed the large grommet completely, opened the hole just a bit vertically so the sharpe piece would insert through it and then mounted it last night. My plan is the run the main holley harness through the large hole, and the factory harness section through the smaller hole. I will then find another section of firewall to put a seals it style grommet in and run the dbw harness through it.
I see where the first brackets fell short.. The model from mcmaster of the push latch doesn't place the striker ball pin in the latch, but off of it. I had my point place on the base of the ball pin that is the center of the corvette plate which was 65mm up and 100mm out from the first set of studs that mount the plate to the dash. I should have manipulated the model to show the pins latched, but no big deal! It all fits like intended and you could never tell

because the bcm controls so many electrical components including the dash. They all state they can install it but the dash, ac, radio, door locks etc will not work without piggybacking everything
