I have decided I am keeping my car, so I will soon be purchasing heads/cam plus SC. Living in Ca. I don't want to deal with a bunch off crap when time comes to smog car. I know cam/heads will pass and adding supercharger won't really affect too much. So my biggest problem is which supercharger? I want to get andy's ATI kit but ati doen't have a carb number for Vette (i think it has one but for Mustang right?) Anyways wondering if anyone has passed smog with it? Do they just look for number or do they research it? If they do I will get Vortech. Any comments/experience?
Thanks
It depends on where you go. I bought a 49-state car, had it shipped in, and the DMV temp registration papers stated it had to meet 49-state standards.
The first smog shop I went to said I needed to go to a referee station, even though the car met 49-state standards. They didn't care about the DMV papers that said it needed to meet 49-state standards.
The gas station I went to said no problem, hooked it up, and found it passed everything but the PCM 'no code' test (no O2 sensors caused PCM errors).
Once I'm done breaking in the new motor, I'll bring it back to the gas station to finish my smog test...
