well its 11.30 and i am done for the night.....i am not gonna worry about that little peice of shrapnel in my mtr   ..i am all done underneath the car...all oil lines are in and the crank is pinned....all the stuff that worried me ...is all done now....now comes the fun part...putting all the goodies back together....this install is fairly easy so far  .....a little side note for the do it yourselfers......i have long tube headers(stainlessworks) on the car and that oil adapter is a little bugger to put on at the oil filter location :mad :mad i was almost tempted to pull the left header :smash: :smash: ....well i will start part 2 in the am after i finish up my Xmas shopping...lots of pics taken...i will post them soon
Good luck with your installation. I installed mine myself too. I'll keep an eye on this thread just in case you have some questions.
I sure wouldn't like to have that piece of metal in my oil pan though. When I did mine it stayed stuck in the center of the rotabroach. In fact it's still there.
I didn't have enough room to pull the PS pulley off with the abs module in the way so I pulled the bracket off with the PS pump/pulley still attached and did it on the bench. I put it back on the same way. When you put the pulley back on make sure that it is installed so that the pump shaft is flush with the face of the pulley. I discovered that I had pressed mine on too far and I just corrected that error about two weeks ago.
Iput mine in myself as well about the same time as VortechC5. Sounds to me
like you're flying through the install. Good for you. Took me 50 hours over a
two week period. (I'm not especially fast, just real good). I'll be watching as well with advice if you need it. Good luck!! You're gonna love it!
thanks guys............i was a little sick in the stomach taking all the lines off the ABS unit....but it all went well and no large gushes of fluid   i gotta do a bunch of stuff this am but will get back at it later today
You took the ABS unit out? That will do the trick.
FYI, I needed to modify the ABS module bracket to lower its mounting height and slightly bend the top lines to clear the bottom of the supercharger volute. Just a heads up.
Unless Vortech has changed the radiator overflow tank spacers included in the kit you may need to modify them so that the radiator overflow tank cap does not push up on the bottom of the hood when the hood is closed. Some of us have had to do this but we had very early kits.
Another thing concerns the aftercooler radiator. You can either do it using the method in the instructions or you can attach it to the air conditioner condensor using electric fan ties (a Pep Boys item). This is how I did it.
If you have not upgraded your fuel pump yet Racetronics makes a nice kit to do this.
thanks for the tips.......i like the idea of putting the cooler on the condensor.....it is out of the way better........how did you modify the bracket for the abs???? did you make the slots deeper?????............see pics from vortech day 1(new thread)
I made the existing slots deeper for the module to mount to the bracket. This allows the module to mount lower in the bracket. I then slotted the holes used to mount the bracket to the xmember so that the whole bracket/ABS assembly sits lower. After that I still had to bend the ABS lines slightly for clearance.
I also had to take the die grinder to the corner of the ABS module for clearance.
