Centerforce clutch
I just got off the phone with the guy who installed my blower. I had called him out of curiousity to see what his rate was for installing a clutch. He tells me that he doesn't like the McLeod that I was interested in because the pedal pressure is too much. He prefers the Centerforce. Now I've done a search and I can't find anything mentioned about Centerforce, but I seem to recall some people saying they didn't like it. Any comments, good or bad, on the Centerforce?
Oh, and his price was 1400 and change for the Centerforce installation including parts and "reconditioning" the flywheel. No adjustable master or new flywheel. I'm a little sceptical, since I found that DynoTech will install a Spec 3 with aluminum flywheel for about the same price. What do you all think?
I had a centerforce dual friction clutch on my SS. It held well, but when heated it would stick and the clutch would drag on the flywheel. Consequently it wore the clutch out in less then 5K miles. I have now switched to a McLeod Street twin.
When I first had my supercharger installed I had a Mc Cloud heavy duty clutch installed and what a BIG piece of s#!t...! It was constantly slipping, then I switched to a Cartek clutch and man does it grab!!! (Oh Hay!!!)
The hotter it gets the better it grabs! You should give Dave at Cartek a call and tell'em Supercharger John sent ya.
