First time @ track!

Nice times! I look forward to hearing about more of your track experiences!
I'm living vicariously through you since I can't track mine right now.

diynoob..... Trust me, there will be more track days to come.
Av8tor..... Thank Phil, you were a big help early on.
Whelp, I think it's about time to look into a cage & line-lok for the next event sometime in the fall. Quicksilver...... I will be gunning for that 10 second pass!
Great runs on your part!
1. If you're running on runflat, pump them up to about 30lbs. and do a short burnout. Basically I was trying to clean the tires off and put a little heat in them. I was pretty surprised after my runs that the tires were tacky (probably from the VHT track prep).
2. If you're running DR's or ET Streets.... HEAT THEM UP GOOD!!! I never really did get a good burnout with the ET's (thanks to asmokegars for the loaners), but they did give me much better results than the runcraps.
3. I tried a variety of launch techniques, but ultimately what worked the best (with ET's) was powerbraking the car to about 2200 rpm's (you may need to adj. higher or lower given track conditions) and let the big dog hunt!!
This really helped the T/C do its thing.4. On runflats, I was pretty much launching a little off idle, feeding throttle progressively. Once second gear hit, I would really gun it & if I felt a bit too much spin I eased off a little. With street tires it really takes a lot of finesse, with DR's or ET's...... GUN IT!!!
5. I always left the tranny in third. If the shift points were programmed correctly, manually shifting will not buy you anything. Trust me, I have tried both ways and letting the computer do it's thing is best.
6. Be sure to pump up your front tires to max psi, this will help alleviate some rolling resistance.
7. Use a delicate hand at the wheel. The car will feel a little light in the front end, just make very small/slight corrections to the steering wheel as needed to keep the car pointed in the right direction.
8. ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!
There's really no way to properly convey what the experience @ the track is like, just go out there and have a good time. Take notes after each run so you can track what things worked or didn't work. It really is a TON of fun.
If I can give you any more tips, let me know. Heck I'm sure many here on the Forum will add their "tips" to track performance too!! Just be sure to write in and tell us all how you make out.

Doug is just about done with my blue car. I ended up selling my ET streets to Don & now I am thinking I want another pair to play with.
The blue car has the 382 from the green one with a d1sc and alky injected. Mayber 650 at the rear wheels. Doug took out the cam that was in it and put in a Z06 which is more tame and likely to get through PA inspection. Now the Green car - next spring!
Have a great holiday season and maybe I'll see you next spring.

I know where you can get a set...they only have about 10 passes on them
, but they do have some "street" miles.
Gee, I wonder where Doug got that Z06 cam for your car?
