I am currently running a 99 A4 with 65000 miles on it. I never take it to the strip but am looking into adding nitrous as a power booster on the street "just in case" I should ever need it. Not looking for stellar performance gains, but want something very safe. It looks like a 100 shot would do the job and it seems from my research like the engine could take it, but I'm worried about the tranny. Anyone had any experience running this sort of set up on an A4?
Another concern of mine is my Diablo tuning. I just downloaded the tune that came with the unit and am concerned that that may have adjusted the timing to a dangerous degree to run the FI.
Also, for what I'm looking at should I just strick with dry or would wet be worth it?
i use the 100 shot nx wet kit .the instructions state only for stock tune, not to use any aftermarket program as it may advance timing and cause detonation .i have an flp transmission so i can't comment on stock reliability.
The 100 shot will not be an issue with your tranny as long as you don't "nail it" from a dead stop and hit the spray at the same time. (you will need to be over 3000 RPM before spraying to have good airflow to the engine and aid in the distribution)
Like IC said, you will need to retard the timing to compensate for what the Diablo added. I use a timing tuner from Ramcharger to allow me to run optimum timing off of the spray (which is 98% of the time), and automatically pull timing to enable me to spray as much as 150hp without race gas.
